  2. I hope Mel gives in and puts subtitles on the film. Otherwise, I'll only know two people that will have a chance to understand it -- they've both studied Hebrew.

  3. Some religious groups saw a cut of the film (very close to final) and they actually complained that the subtitles weretoo obtrusive. Either Gibson was joking around about the subtitles or he caved-in.

  4. This looks kinda meh to me. At least Last Temptation was interesting. I doubt you'll need subtitles if you're familiar with the story.

  5. No thanks. Never been a big fan of bible/religion films, unless those are horror related

I read about subtitle controversy as well, and I think original idea of having whole film being spoken in Aramaic without subtitles completely bizzare.

Which will do them no good, as the film's in Aramaic.

I can't wait to see it. Subtitles or no, this is going to be one powerful film.

Just so you all know, Mel was giving an interview on EWTN and had said that the reason there will be no subtitles is because he wants everything to come across in the emotion of the moment, and not the actual spoken word. He also wants the film to be a close to reality as it possibly can be, hence the Aramaic, which was the common tongue of that day.
