Does money count? I'm sure that's of some value to the publishers.
This mag better have naked female DDR tournaments if they want to catch some attention from me.

I think they can live without the hardcore nerd audience and just make it mainstream.
Fuck mainstream.Originally posted by MVS

I don't know. I think buying a gaming mag makes you sort of "nerdy" by default, no matter the content.Originally posted by MVS

The people who play Madden don't really care enough about video games to spend money on a mag, and people who do care about video games aren't going to take this seriously.
I think they're shooting for a market that doesn't exist. Or one that's very small.
Well that's like, your opinion, man.
I'm sure they are shooting for the Madden audience.

Without the mainstream, your 'hardcore' gaming days would end.
If the mag has Trya Banks on the cover and a Madden 04 strategy guide inside on the day Madden launched - it'll sell. And perhaps an inside look at Metal Gear Solid Twin Snakes :/ I think it'd have a much better chance of selling than something with Mario on the cover and Advance Wars 2 tips inside or something of the like :/

Seriously, I'm no marketing expert - but damn I know they'd hit thier quota if they released thier first issue exactly like that.
Most especially if they interview Trya Banks in the issue and feed her some lines, ala Maxim, that would seem to cuddle the reader and make it sounds like the very person reading the mag is the guy she always dreamed of (seriously - read the cover model interviews of any of those kinds of magazines). Downplay everything that is stereo-typically dorky or youth-oriented in the magazine in a sardonic condecending fashion that will make the "Madden audience" have a laugh and pump-up hype for the 'serious' and 'cool' games that they have furture exclusive licences to cover. It'll make the magazine look stellar in the eyes of its readers as well as making said readers feel good about themselves. Have humorous sections about something typically manly, related to video games if possible and they'd be set. I highly recommend pulling the editor staff from OXBM. They're really good at this kind of thing.
