That movie truly has no redeeming qualities. But I guess that's the point of this thread...
Well that's like, your opinion, man.

Not really, its not just about films you felt had no redeeming value yet you still liked them. They can be films that you gained alot from when you thought they'd bore you to death... such as movies that require alot of paying attention to the dialouge and facial emotions of the characters, in a nutshell films that require patience. It'd be like a die hard action film fan finding himself unexpectedly enjoying a film like "The Hours" or "Shakespeare in Love" (exagerrated examples I'm sure).

I'll add another film to the list, "The English Patient"... alot of people regarded this as a artsy, boring film, as did I for quite a long time. I finally got around to watching it and I really enjoyed it, great story with alot of substance to it and good acting.

  3. French Kiss was good. "What can I say? I'm an asshole"

Amilee. Passed on watching it with the chick, but watched it later and it was a great movie.

Jeanne and the perfect guy is another french movie that's better than I expected. I guess it's tough to make musicals about aids or something.

  4. This board is full of surprises. I, admittedly, really liked French Kiss, too.

Do the Right Thing - I don't like ethinc lectures (especially from the 80s) but this was a pretty engaging movie.

  5. The Brave Little Toaster- So sad. So good.

  6. Another vote for French Kiss.

Tombstone was another movie I had zero expectations for, I've never liked any Westerns, but wow that movie kicked ass.
Right, because if anything validates the existance of a handheld piece of shit, it's taking those shitty handheld games and placing them on a screen big enough so that the inherent flaws of the software is visible to all humans. Including Ray Charles.

  7. About schmidt- was dragged by girlfriend, wound up liking it about 20 times more than she did. I loved how it had a undertone of regret and darkness for the main character, and how well it is kept just bubbling beneath the surface. Plus, the way it portrayed the world of an aging man dealing with being alone was both touching and really scary and stark.

  8. Y Tu Mama Tambien - My roomates rented it and i thought it looked really bad, but they promised it had boobies in it so i watched and really liked it. I would have liked it even without the boobies. Note this was about a week after they promised i would "love" Amilee, that movie was pure crap.
