Thread: R-Type Final

  1. Sort of - I think they had to lower the res to do the distortion effect without (more) slowdown. That's probably what's making them look extra crappy.

    Mostly, it just gives me a headache, and that's not cool.

  2. I've just got to say the Albatross makes this game so much easier, with it's different types of lasers, espically the red one.

  5. Level 5 is the worst level ever designed, period.

    It takes this game from an awesome game, to something not as awesome, since it's so ugly and shitty.

    I beat the game last night, and I finally got the echidna, the predecessor to the R-13, now I just need to play with it for 30 minutes to get the Cereberos.


    How far are you guys getting on one credit? I can usually get to the 4th stage, & most of my deaths are stupid mistakes, so I know I can do better.

    I've got stage 1-4 pretty much down on one credit, but 4th level boss' second form usually ruins it for me...I now have 19 ships unlocked thanks to the unlocking guide on gamefaqs...

    Anyone else have their bits get stuck (ha ha, that could be taken many ways!) -- but seriously, especially on some bosses, I throw it at them and it sometimes gets stuck behind them or up in the corner and I need to wait for the screen to advance for it to be forced out to me again...even though I call it back repeatedly...

    Another strange thing happened to me -- I played as one of the code ships, the one you actually unlock from the code one...that throws the yellow wall out that stops small bullets and I died and continued and picked the lady love...when I started with her, I was fully powered up and everytime I died and continued I was still fully powered up, even kept my missles...very strange, cause I was never fully powered with the previous ship before I continued...I wasn't able to replicate this with another ship last night...hmmmm....

    My biggest death problem is hitting the background elements (like the edges of the giant ship in 3 or is it 4?) The screen is so dark, it's hard to see the edges half the time...

    hopefully I will beat the game this week -- I haven't really tried for that yet...so we'll see if I can beat that level 5 guy or not...

    Easier difficulties let you start powered up. They also have more slowdown at bosses and critical moments(this is intentional), Bydo and R-typer have close to no forced slowdown at all.

  10. Obscurity alert- anyone else notice that the Cyber Nova is the Rabio Lepus/Rabbit Punch ship? I think I now have a new favorite.
