Thread: Atlus

  1. Hmmm...I recall reading something...probably from a Vic Ireland post on the WD message boards saying that Sony wanted WD to sell the games together.

    I remember because shortly after, I watched the making of Arc the Lad disc and Victor said that they had approached Sony after Arc 1 wanting to translate it, but were denied. They tried again after Arc II, but were denied again. Sony would only give the go ahead if they put out all three together. That shocked me, and it kinda made sense, then, that Sony was taking the same position with Growlanser.

  2. I hope they don't take that kind of stance if Atlus of America (very big if) or someone else decides to bring over Growlanser IV... I really want to see this make it here especially since Growlanser II & III are coming here now... I mean eventually

  3. that's a bizarre statment re: torico, considering that it was published by sega in japan... =)

    i never finished it, as is the problem with those sort of adventure games you can get suck, and at the time the only faq was a button press-by-button press faq that totally lacked context and assumed you started the game using it.

    it was just a list like: "up right up right A up" for the whole game ^_^;;

    anyway, i was never able to get unstuck so i never finished it...

  4. Ah, seeing Princess Crown, ESP.RA.DE and Crusader of Centy makes me cry.

    As a consumer, it's not my responsibility to worry about sales. With that said, I would not classify Thousand Arms, Rhapsody, Sky Gunner, and Dual Hearts as "bad taste." Maybe some of the others are bad, but I can't judge those because I haven't played everything. Disgaea is going to be a real treat. Nippon Ichi is hot right now, and Atlus USA obviously noticed. I've happily spent >120 hours on La Pucelle, and I expect to do the same with Disgaea. BTW, there's an excellent 175pp walkthrough translation for SMT3 on gamefaqs...

    That's a rumor, although Vic hasn't denied it.

    Get the Limited Edition version, it comes with a Shin Megami Tensei incense burner to keep away evil spirits

  8. Well, I've been inundated with evil spirits recently, so I'll look into the LE.

    Is it a charcoal censor, or a standard censor?

  9. It's very hard to play in Japanese. You won't understand the hundreds of monster and spell names.

    Thousand Arms is probably the worst RPG on the PSX.
