Yeah I should check it out. But then again, you can never trust IGNs reviews.=\
To put IGN's quote in context, Tsugunai was one of the first RPGs out for the PS2, right?Originally Posted by xS

I've wondered about it, too, though.
Damn, I had the chance to buy SMT3(or Venus and Braves/La Puccele) earlier today, but I opted for Metal Slug 3, Virtual On Marz, and Initial D. I'll probably pick it up for collection purposes when I have enough $$$.
that review is my Favorite Article Ever on IGN. since i have a personal policy against making fun of the competition, i won't talk about why. =)Originally Posted by RedCoKid
tsugunai is not great. it's .. well, for PS2, for the time, it was above average. anything more than that would be an overstatement of its quality. it's got dumbed down versions of good gameplay systems, amusing but limited character dialogue -- in general, it's a good but unexceptional game. i think that arc the lad for PS2 is probably a better buy (same developer.)Originally Posted by xS
there are plenty of better RPGs than tsugunai at this point, and for that matter, you probably haven't caught up on all of the better RPGs on PS1, on top of that.
but still, it's a decent and charming game, and yeah -- the music is by yasunori mitsuda, and it's good (celtic-heavy, even more so than usual. he went all out.)
I've also missed out on Wizardry. Is it any good?
it's pretty basic. it has really good character artwork, but it's not animated as i recall (there might be multiple versions for different expressions, though.)Originally Posted by xS
as for the game, it's a dungeon crawl where you walk along a grid... it's one of those games where you can only walk on the specific grid they've plotted. the enemies are visible, but you'll still get a fair amount of encounters... and there's only one town. it's definitely derivative of old RPG titles. i've never played an old wizardry so i can't compare it.
i didn't find it very satisfying, but it's totally not the kind of RPG that really appeals to me.
You mean Yasunori Mitsuda... I had no idea he did Tsungai, I know he did Xenogears and Breath of Fire V alsoOriginally Posted by xS

Actually, Hitoshi Sakimoto did BOFV's soundtrack (and did a damn good job of it, at that). Mitsuda and Sakimoto did work together on Legaia 2, though.Originally Posted by Werewolf
