Yuck.
What's the exact error?
Got another DVD player (like Power DVD)?
OK... so I try to play a DVD in Windows Media Player and it says my system isn't properly configured.
Oh yeah, and the error code it gives me has "no fix". Isn't that exciting?
Any ideas? I really want to watch a DVD in bed tonight.
DVD's work in Windows Media Player?
*shrugs*
/me uses InterActual player which installed itself with one of my DVDs, and Divx.
Golly Rich... thanks for being so helpful.
At least your post count went up.
My help was DL divx and try that.![]()
Lhadatt = correct.
Windows Media Player will only play DVD's if an appropriate decoder is installed on the system, like WinDVD or PowerDVD.
What I might recommend is trying a program called VideoLAN. I know it has a Windows version, and I THINK it has native DVD playback capability. (As in, I think it has a built-in decoder; it does say it plays DVD's.) If that doesn't help, all I can recommend is trying to get your hands on WinDVD or PowerDVD.
Hope this helps...

Yeah, Bishop is right. WMP by itself can't play DVD's, otherwise MS would have to pay the $20 or whatever licensing fee that all dvd players have. It has to have another dvd playing program or decoder card to be used, which is kinda pointless since chances are if you have another program such as PowerDVD or WinDVD, it wipes its ass with Media Player any day of the week.
