get new speakers
or get an exorcist
This is weird. There is a problem with my sound. It's like it constantly does this weird effect, like, an echo or something. Every sound is repeated twice, one regular time, then again a fraction of a second later, giving everything a ghastly echo. It only does it with certain things though. On start up, the windows sound seems fine, and the sound in warcraft 3: TFT is fine, but, every movie I watch, and every mp3 I listen to has this weird effect. It does it with quicktime, windows media player, music match, and even the aim sounds are all repeated. I'm using a sound blaster audigy 2, and I checked my speakers by plugging in some headphones, and the problem is still there. Any ideas?

Not the speakers, I checked. Now, I need an old priest and a young priest.
Sweet shit! I fixed it! I did a system restore and when it rebooted I received all sorts of logs about a serious crash that my system was now recovering from, and all sorts of other satanic mombo jumbo talk. All is well for now...
God damn it there's a cricket somewhere and it's chirping is gonna drive me to commit mass ritualistic homicide.
Lobo, you have War3: TFT? Hop on East sometime, a bunch of us play online.
Hehe... I had a similar problem because of regular Warcraft 3 when it first came out. It did exactly the same thing with my Audigy. After a month, everything sounded like it had an echo except for when I played Warcraft 3. I fixed it by upgrading my Sound Card drivers though.![]()
Do a little net searching for incompatibilities with your Audigy card and your computer or mobo.
My Audigy 1 card jitters sometimes when it plays mp3s or wav files, kinda like what you described but not nearly as bad. It doesn't do it at all when I'm gaming though. I did a little digging and it was an incompatibility between the Audigy and my motherboard.
Unfortunately, there's not a damn thing I can do about it without replacing either the card or the mobo. But... you may find a fix for yours.
The title of this thread reminded me of this woman who once called a computer store I used to work for. She wanted us to perform an exorcism on her computer because "the demon inside it was growling at her".
It turned out to be the empty floppy drive cycling during boot.
Oh, and for you Audigy owners: http://www.bash.org/?24262![]()
