Thread: Gigawing 2: Scoring and Strategy

  1. Has the forum's font changed? I've noticed that (at least on my computer) the high score table has become messed up.

  2. Everything looks fine on my end. Anyone else experiencing this?

  3. I checked other high score threads and they look fine; the problem is only in this thread. The content hasn't changed, it's just a mess. Many scores drop down a line (ex: the 7 in Victrix's stage 7 score) and some scores are spaced out more than others (BooMsta's has a tab space between the score and the 7th place spot). I hope this can be fixed somehow, but maybe it's just my computer.

    But anyway, here's a score:

    Score attack stage 5:

    837,282,078,806,885,090 - Kaneda / Chery

  4. Nice to see GW2 finally get some respect from a few people around here.

I haven't touched the game in months, but the first and only time I managed to clear it on one credit I scored 5,274,410,478,229,890 pts. That's using Limi's Raven / Reflect Barrier / default settings (of course). Should be good for 4th place.

Pffft. I too would like to see this Brad Gallaway attempt to rank on our top ten.

  5. Hey Gondolin! I was wondering if you might find your way in here. Good to see someone breaking up the Kart/Chery monotony.

  6. Welcome to the Giga Wing 2 table, Gondolin!

All we need now is for dog$ to submit a score, and we'll have all bases covered.

  7. Second salvo:

    298,933,167,324,260 BioMechanic/Ralugo/RF/Stage 4

Last place and proud of it! And a welcome to Ralugo!!

I was playing very well (for me), but a stupid, stupid death really broke up my run. I'm one of those who loves shooters, but isn't especially good at em.

You guys are right, of course - using the RF more than doubled my previous high - not that I'm a threat to you top scorers, though.

Does playing score attack mode help with scoring tactics on arcade mode?

Yes, but the bullets tend to travel slower in Score Attack mode, and (perhaps as a consequence) the game engine is a lot more liberal with the volcanoes.

I find the difference in bullet speed to be especially distracting when practicing Level 4.

  9. For me the score attack mode is most useful for the last three boss levels. After some time with it I could beat the fifth level without losing a life or even firing regular shots. I can also take down the sixth guy, but I usually die once or twice. Just keep in mind that most bullet patterns look worse than they actually are.

  10. Like Kaneda, I mostly found score attack useful for finding survival patterns on the latter bosses. The key to scoring in arcade mode is finding out how to trigger the more subtle volcanoes, and the extent to which they're exaggerated in score attack makes this next to impossible.
