Thread: Final Fantasy X

  1. Final Fantasy X

So how did you feel about Square's latest FF game? I myself haven't played it for too long, I guess I've logged in about 5-6 hours or so into it.

As of yet, I can't see any redeeming qualities about this game. Flagrantly....uh, ugly character art, awful music, and writing that at times makes the first game in the series look like a Shakespearian quality effort....is all what I have witnessed from this game.

And no, I don't hate the FF series. I enjoyed ff7 and 9 quite a bit. Maybe I'm just burnt out with J RPGs as a whole, but I really don't know. So... what are your thoughts on this game?

  2. don't like any games that have Nomura's designs.

  3. I liked it. I am particularly fond of extremely colorful games like Pandemonium and the like, so this flamboyant use of hue was a plus.

The character designs are all but forgetable, though. Very personality-less, if you ask me. Seymour was cool, and the Aeons were amazing, but the rest was just ho-hum.

The story was alright, but it wasn't why I kept playing. Predictable like none other. I kept playing to see the whole world, to collect it all, and to achieve everything there was to achieve...and Blitzball. I liked Blitzball a lot. If Square knew what was good for them, they'd publish a $10-$20 dollar Blitzball game. I'd buy it up with the quickness.

  4. 9 was a let down for me, but fond ff memories made me buy this one. I found it simply OK. I can't say much good, I can't say much bad. was worth play, but wouldn't play it a second time.
I also found some of the later boss battle involved a lot of luck, which was kinda turned me off for me. But Blitzball was damn cool. It's a good play for jRPG fans, but it isn't going to win over anybody new to the genre.

  5. I liked it, the battle system was one of the best for the series and the sphere ability system was a nice attempt at something different IMO

The characters aren't that bad, some are forgetable but I thought Auron was pretty cool myself

xS have you ever played the first Final Fantasy... even the updated one the whole dialog for the story could probably fit on 2 pages... your exaggerating a bit But being burnt out on RPG's is something I can relate to since I've played so many of them

I thought the music was good, nothing spectacular but good overall, I really liked the main piano theme though

Its one of my favorite games ever made.

I agree 100%. I also dug how certain characters did well against certain enemy types. It forced you to exploit the new system. Very balanced, and very nicely executed.

You're right. The only one I really had a problem with was Tidus. And it wasn't at all because of his design, but rather his attitude. Spunky, sure, but he was whiney too, and I just didn't like that. Everyone else was fine.

I loved the music the whole way through, but especially in the city of Luca. There's just something about it's whimsical bounce that really gets me.

  8. What I like most was the ability to switch characters on the fly. For once I actually used everyone instead of just playing with the same three for the hole game. I also thought Auron was very cool. By far one my favorite FF/PS2 game.

    Damn right.

FFX is a great game, and my favorite non-snes era Final Fantasy game.

The battle system is awesome (though many elements were lifted from Breath of Fire IV), I love the character designs, and while initially I anticipated hating the linear progression of the game, after playing it for a few hours I had no problem with it.

I thought the characters were all really well done, with the exception of Yuna (something about her just didn't click for me), and overall the voice acting was top notch.

It also had a good amount of references to the old games, which is always a good thing for the nostalgic folk among us (i.e. cactuar village is the bomb).

One of the best rpgs released in recent years, which only gets a bad rap because it's a Final Fantasy game (IMHO of course).

  10. I'll chime in and say it's one of my most favorite games ever, as well.

    Those are my true colors.
