Thread: Lord of the Rings: ROTK Trailer #1

  1. ROTK Trailer #1

  2. Looks good. I just hope that battle scenes will be better done than in Two Towers, where it was too chaotic for its own good.

  3. You mean TTT and LOTR.

If you are hoping for that, it isn't going to happen.

  4. Just about what I expected -- i.e., suitably epic and surprisingly true to the books. No complaints here. Thanks for the link.
    "Fiends! Animals! Bastards!"

  5. There are a lot of people who are of the opinion that this is NOT an official trailer per se, but rather a home-edited version of the ROTK preview from the TTT DVD.

Despair, you can bet that the film will be just as disjointed as TTT. Peter Jackson should have handled the splintering story in the same manner as the books.

I still think that Fellowship will end up being the best film of the three by a large margin.

  6. Of course that's not an official trailer. Just check AICN or Onering.net, it was put up to the bafflement of those running the sites, and quickly taken down due to New Line's request. Looks incredible, though. FOTR is my favorite of the two out. The centerpeice of TT, the Battle of Helm's deep just didn't draw me in as half as much as the battles in FOTR. Personally, I'd put the action in FOTR up with Braveheart and Black Heart Down for how well it made up feel like you're part of some insane battle. Once the camera pulled away in the Helm's Deep battle with Ghimli counting off the slain orcs it had lost me. My biggest fear is that that's how the greatest battle of all time (Pellanor Feild) will end up like, just some too close shots of guys swinging at something and thousands of people running around. However, PJ has said ROTK is the best movie. It makes him cry.

  7. I heard they are going to cut the scouring of the shire out of the movie, so im wondering how they are going to deal with saruman and wormtongue...i hope they didnt make anything up.

did anyone else notice that aragorn is holdin Narsil on the poster they use alot? im glad they didnt cut that out.

  8. The Scouring is not in ROTK. It's been said that Saruman meets his end by falling from the top of Orthanc and getting impaled. This is based on some past comments about how his death would be a tribute to Christopher Lee's past roles as Dracula. If Wormtongue doesn't push him to his doom, I'm going to be pretty miffed.

Agreed, Green. Pelennor should be an incredible encounter. FOTR is more based on character development (one reason why the film's battle's were more effective, I think) and TTT concentrates more on events, so I suppose that's why the battles didn't hit home as strongly. ROTK goes back to the strong characterizations along with the epic conflict, so hopefully that'll be reflected in the battles.....especially at Pelennor.

FUCK THAT! Two Towers had EPIC battles!

I too also heard that Jackson said his favorite was 3. And this was before 2 even came out.

On another note I did like Fellowship more. Towers was fantastic though.

  10. I liked the fights in TTT as opposed to the Fellowship. I like action more. When these movies come out in Trilogy form, I'm going to buy them then and watch them all, back to back.
