SI may not have that much in and of itself, but certainly no less than your average NJ town, or city even. And living a stones throw from Manhattan is pretty sweet too.

Much of Bergen and Hudson counties are more urban and more a part of "NYC" than Staten Island though. Just because you have a NYC library card does not mean you really live in the city. You just take care of their rubbish.
