Monthly Challenge - August

Here's the plan.

Make a mock-up 'menu' for a game-themed restaurant. At Universal Studios, there's one by Marvel, so why not games? Either pick a series, genre, or just games in general and come up with ways to play on the 'theme' through the menu. You don't have to draw anything either - this is more to see how creative you can get with an idea, and how well you can present it with what you can do. So if PhotoShop, Illustrator, or just plain scissors and glue are your thing...

So that means anything can work - you own illustrations, stock art from the company, self-made graphics, logo for the character/series name. Hopefully this is different enough to get more people involved, and if you like the idea - spread the word. The more the merrier.

perhaps. But when I was thinking about it, it sounded like such a good idea. I know Andy has the PhotoShop skills, and so do others here at TNL. Then again, they don't normally visit this board...

I think its a good concept but people havent bought into it for some reason. perhaps the right people havent seen it?

heres 2 things-

1.the reason i cant participate is I have too many design projects that I SHOULD be working on instead of something like this.

2.I would create a menu and use it for my portfolio but Im not a big fan of restaurants to start off with and the menus are somewhat of a nuisance. I guess you could say I think their design is flawed to begin with. I thought of making an animated one like a game menu in flash that would be displayed on touch screen moniters that retract into the table when your done ordering.

Man, quite frankly, it's hard enough to get people to come into the Galleria section.... let alone come in and draw... and then stack a complicated concept on there....

Maybe next month the theme should be a little simpler

Yeah, I'm not too jazzed about this one, but it was a neat idea...something the non-"drawers" could participate in.

For next month, I think it would be cool if people drew a rendition of their VF4:evo character, all decked out in whatever gear and colors you have them in. Preferably both 1P and 2P outfits, but whatever.
