Change that last part to read "from 1950 into the present day" and you're about right.

So "we" will be the last generation with Saturday Morning Cartoons, at least the whole theory behind it. Somewhat fitting, I think.

  2. Captain N and BEETLEJUICE! Yeah baby... Hanna-Barbera did ass loads of cookie cutter stuff because they were quite possibly the cheapest animation studio in the history of the universe. Many great shows despite that though. Gotta love how there were basically two groups of Scooby-Doo-ish characters at the same time. Also, Captain N was the KING of product placement, they should have made action figures of the Captain N renditions of the characters, the pompous Simon Belmont would be a must-buy. I still long for a day when he's put in a game.

This site isn't well organized, and is slow as hell, but it has every cartoon that was ever shown in the U.S documented

I'm a huge fan of cartoons, and it's scary that I remember quite a few of the cartoons listed...although this makes me want to desintegrate the local Fox affiliate even more since they don't show the Fox Box and a lot of the shows they're showing on there seems cool.

And looking back, man, did Hannah-Barbera have a lot of cookie-cutter shows back in the 70's, Teenagers "solving mysteries, with some of them having a band on the side. Jabber Jaws, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kids, Scooby Doo, Captain Caveman and the Teenangles, Fang Face, Clue Club, The Amazing Chan and the Chan Clan, Speed Buggy, Josie and the Pussycats, The Funky Phanton, and some I'm probably forgetting. Of course, Scooby Doo was the only show that survived. Man, H-B milked a concept far more than Capcom ever had with their games.
I share your enthusiasm for cartoons. I love animation, but there really isn't much outside of whats on cartoon network that interests me anymore. Just look at Kids WB, I'd rather watch dead air than that line up, and the Fox Box is pretty weak as well (except for TMNT). Speaking of the Fox Box, I was so pissed off when they killed off Fox Kids. Oh well, at least I managed to tape just about every episode of Big Guy and Rusty before it went under.

That's a pretty cool site, there were quite a few great shows to come out during the 90's but most people don't seem to remember, or even care. Too bad they only have the basic info on things though. There are a ton of shows I am dying to see make it on DVD, such as MTV's Downtown or Clone High, but the chances of that happening are slim to none.

  7. 3 South would be another good show for DVD. www.tvtome.com also has some nice info on most cartoons, as does the Yesterdayland.com stuff in the internet archive.

  8. Hehe... I love 80s cartoons! Well I just love cartoons and animation in general. One of my smaller hobbies to collect tapes or bootlegs for old cartoons. Although my collection isn't as comprehensive as some other collectors on the net, a bunch of my friends always get a thrill when they wade through some of my stuff. There's just something amazingly nostalgic about old cartoons. Not to mention that cartoons from the 80s-early 90s are in a category by themselves. I one day want to own at least a few episodes of every cartoon made by old animation houses like Filmation (He-man, She-ra, Original Ghostbusters, Bravestarr, etc) and Toei Doga (Misc Marvel Comics cartoons, Transformers, Dungeons & Dragons, GI Joe) or anything released by DiC Entertainment.

  9. So many great memories...

    Thundercats
    Adventures of the Little Koala
    The Wuzzles
    Belle & Sebastian
    Captain N
    Inspector Gadget
    He-Man
    Garfield & Friends
    The Karate Kid
    Superbook

...and a whole buttload of others. Thank you for that link. Massive nostalgia fix.

  10. Anyone know what happened to Http://www.yesterdayland.com ? That used to be my favorite site for stuff like this.
