VF4:Evo says hi. (Then again, I could be just a Sega fanboy, or loony in the head.)

Namco still deserves a ton of credit for bringing this out in the US. That took some sack on their part (or maybe not, after seeing the reaction it got at E3 this year). I am suprised no one mentioned the dubbing over of the cutscenes though -- that and the text were about the only things that changed from the Japanese release. I am curious as to why they bothered to re-dub the cutscenes (is there any game on the PS2 that only has a Japanese voice track? It might be a Sony policy...)

One other question I have (and this pertains to budget titles in general) is how publishers will be able to keep this up. Could the practice of selling a game in Japan at ~$50 and then turning around and selling it for $20 be considered dumping? Will this disparity ever create a backlash in Japan or Eurpoe (in Japan, probably not -- console games seem to be less reveleant as time passes). I really do like the trend of the price of games starting to match their initial budgets, though.

    Gungrave.

I, for one, thought that the terrible dubbing and writing that, at times, didn't fit the children who were speaking, and the unamazed news reporter's story about the missing stars just made the game even more funny.

  4. Anyone else trying for a 1000 meter katamari on the final level? After last nights 725, and taking into account that I had a few minutes here and there of dead time in the collecting, I think it's doable with a bit of practice.

I also got 100% on the credits sequence. Go me!

I don't think there's enough actual stuff to go over 900 meters. My high is something like 865 and that's with a lot of time spent just collecting the remaining crap spread all over the ocean.

Even after you collect everything you will be lucky if your katamari is over 880. Of course it varies based on how you pick things up, but you would be hard pressed to get it significantly higher than that.

  7. This game rocks. That is all.

  9. Ok, running out of stuff to roll up could cause a problem in that 1000 meter quest. At least there's still room for improvement.

That last level is my most played area. The sense of scale and growth is simply amazing.

  10. I'm just getting around to playing this one. Yes, I snagged the last local copy. Yes, it was a gut. Anyway, the sense of satisfaction you get when rolling up people is amazing, especially when they they were knocking crap off me a few minutes before.
