Thread: Has the NES aged well?

  1. Alex Kidd = shite.

Check out Wonderboy 3. There's a Turbo Graphx 16 version that plays a bit better IMO, and there are 2 genesis sequels.

  2. Heck, compare all the games on both systems. Space Harrier, Strider, NES Ghosts 'n' Goblins vs. SMS Ghouls 'n' Ghosts, Fantasy Zone, Double Dragon, etc.
    No gnus is good gnus.

Honestly, I am sure that teh SMS has a much larger library of playable games that aren't blurry and don't give you headaches than the N64 does.

I never have played a SMS BTW.

The SMS is like the N64 in that it doesn't have as many good games quantity-wise as the competition but it still has a handful of the best games of its era. But unlike the N64, the SMS at least had every genre covered with something good. The N64 has a few genre gaps that weren't properly filled.

Ever wonder why the top loading NES' sell for so much more on ebay? Thats why.
Um no, mine has been installed for over a year and still works perfectly..

My carts are kept clean and i have no problems..

    Power Strike(Aleste) 1/2
    Kensendein
    Rescue Mission
    Gangster Town
    Shooting Gallery
    Y's
    Monster Land
    Wonderboy 3: Dragons Trap
    Golvelius

    Choplifter
    Sonic Chaos

  7. I just wanted to say that Ninja Gaiden in the arcade was awsome. I liked it way better than the NES version. Two players is more fun than one. Plus it was just cooler.

Contra in the arcade is pretty much the NES version with better graphics and everything.

Double Dragon 2 arcade is also way better than the NES version.

Madden and NHL on the genny/SNES killed those NES sports games badly. Madden and NHL2k now? I won't even go over how badly these games kill tecmo bowl and blades of steel in every category.

With that said... the NES is pretty cool. Super Dodge ball is the shit. Someone needs to make a next gen dodge ball game with painful looking physics.

They're a different style of game. You'd want to compare Super Tecmo Bowl to something like, I dunno, NFL Blitz or something.

  9. Other than the AI, NFL Blitz is far better, IMO.

The control is broken in the arcade. Same with Super Contra. That's why I prefer the NES games.
