Now where did I put that Dixie cup with the Garfield comics on it...?

  3. Critical Overdrive, EAT A COCK!!! Someone quote that so the bitch can see it!

As for the nigger comment, sure it was a joke, but you don't find that out until the very end of the movie. The people in the theater didn't find the joke too funny.

  5. Delta,

Umm, that is the whole point. It would not have had half as much impact had the "punchline" been revealed immediately. The fact that it was so unexpected is what makes it funny. Now, whether or not you, or anyone else, found it funny is another matter entirely. Humor is subjective. I personally found it to be completely out of left field and humorous. I think it really showed how Political Correctness can decieve us.

  6. Undeadking, did you think it was funny at the beginning when the old man said the rifle was for niggers? No one did in the theater I was in.

You were just left to think the old man was racist. I think the writer/director went overboard on some things, like the nigger comment. I just remembered another scene too. The scene where the guy is talking about his dog licking his balls when he was jerking off...WTF??!

  7. Delta,
It wasn't meant to be funny in the begining. You are mising the whole point. What was funny was the fact that everyone just assumed he was racist and then the ending revealed the truth. Had the shop owner been a black man, would you have thought twice about the comment? It's showing that everyone is guilty of a little prejudice. Not one person stopped and thought that the shop owner meant no malice with the comment. Everyone just assumed that he was a racist because he was white and lived out in the "boonies." That is where the humor lies. No one forced you to think he was racist, it was your prejudice that led you to that belief and that is what they were hoping on.

As far as the dog comment, well, that was a bit odd. Did he go overboard? I don't personally feel that is possible. It takes a lot to offend me. It did feel out of place though. Don't get me wrong, I'm not defending the movie. I'm not a big fan of it. I just think it is unfair to label the movie racist when, if anything, you are more racist than the movie itself. People are too quick to throw that word around, but that's a whole other can of worms.

  8. I just saw this today and I really liked it. Perfect ramping up of destruction, it starts slow and then gets completely out of hand. I'm surprised at the gore (lots of it and it was really well done) and I must say I really liked the direction. The music was even really well done. I'm pretty happy with the ending too, a nice chaotic story told in the perfect amount of time (about 90 minutes).

The masturbating/dog comment was really weird, but just look at the character it came from. He said all sorts of weird shit. And I personally thought that the racist "joke" had a great payoff. It really came out of left field, which the audience shared the same response to as the characters. Then at the end, there is the crazy payoff which was I think done really well. Sure it's un-pc, but I think they got away with it fine. Plus I don't think it's any worse than Freddy's "how sweet, dark meat" line in FvJ.

  9. I hate to keep going back to the nigger comment, but I don't know if I'm making myself clear. I was all psyched to see the movie and then it starts and 5 minutes into it there is a really racist comment like that. It made me feel embarrassed and I really didn't care to see the rest of the movie.

I imagine other people felt this way too. My girlfriend felt the same way I did. And their were a lot of groans coming from other people after that comment, and there were only 10-20 people in the theater.

  10. Delta,
But it is NOT racist! Had a black guy said that, would you have been disgusted and walked out? No. You let YOUR racism get in the way of enjoying the movie. The whole point of that was to show that everyone is so quick to judge and no matter how PC you are, you are capable of prejudice just like everyone else. He used the word as a sign of affection, or respect, much like many black males do. You assumed that he was a "damn racist" solely because of the color of his skin. You thought the worst of him just because he happens to be white. What he meant by saying that the gun was for the "niggers", was that he was fixing it up for his friends, not that he was going "nigger" hunting.

I understand, that that word is a touchy issue, but really, you are mising the whole point. It just went way over our head. I love how a use of the dreaded "N word" embaresses you but seeing peoples flesh run off of their bodies is ok. And what about all of the negative gay references? Simply put, you let your prejudice affect the movie. A little advice: lighten up. This "joke" was supposed to show how silly and stupid political correctness is and all the double standards that go with it.
