I know this subject has been dead for a while, but I thought I should post something.
I'm the guy that Werewolf was mentioning, in a few posts, that has a bigger collection than he has. I wouldn't say bigger, I'd say different, for example, I have an incomplete Asian Version collection, but he doesn't collect Asian Versions at all, but he has a complete European Version and my European Version is incomplete. Therefore it balances out(Asian Version is not the same as the Japanese Version)
Anyway, I just want to share some knowledge for anyone that wants to listen:
FF:U on PC is a card game (kinda), runs off the same rules as the FF:U O.C.C.S. (Official Character Card System - or something like that)
FF:U with U is a cellphone game that runs off iMode which is not available outside of Japan and it's downloaded onto the phone, so Werewolf and I will never own that
Final Fantasy I will be released on the cellphone, but it has the same problem as FF:U with U, so it's another game that we will never be able to own. Some say it's a port of the Wonderswan version, but it isn't, 2 of the 3 released screenshots, shows us that the games are drastically different, even to the point that they might not be the same games, or at least changed/improved.
I would easily pay $500 for the unreleased USA version of FFII. Hell, I would easily pay $1,500 but not for the one that was on eBay because that one was a bootleg made from the DemiForce translation. I'm talking about the real one made by Square, I know someone who knows someone that owns it. We have verified that it's real and it needs to be dumped before time destroys it (it's not made on regular ROMs, in fact, we're surprised it still works now)
Ummm, what else...Oh yeah, someone mentioned getting the Japanese version of Final Fantasy IV. The USA playstation version is the same as that version, so your best bet is to get the Easy Type Japanese version, because that one has a different last boss that was never seen in the USA.
My collection has cost me over $20,000 and I would imagine that only Werewolf would agree with me that it's worth every penny
As for the MSX version, I own it (in fact, I own 2 copies of it), so I can assure you that it's real, very expensive and almost impossible to get. I lucked out twice with it. I can't share pictures of it until my website is up and running because I need to give people a reason to visit my site
Also, for those that want the Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles White Gamecube Bundle, if you would know how much it costs to get one, you really would just settle for a regular gamecube with the game sold separately LOL or at least put white-out all over your gamecube to make it look like the limited version. It was really hard paying $1000 for it (and I got mine cheaper than anybody I know)
As for Final Fuck X, lol, if it was official, I'd own it, but once I got outbid on eBay for it, I just let it go... lol
Someone mentioned that he thought he was a loyal fan until he saw Werewolf's collection. No, a loyal fan buys every USA version, crazy people like me and werewolf buy every game from everywhere.Sometimes I look at my collection and I think about how I wouldn't have every credit card maxed if not for this (and all the things I could've done with the money), but hey, it's my hobby, I gotta love it
As for that guy with the signed games...NICE, you lucky bastard
Space is a huge problem, I've had to buy 1 huge ceiling high bookself-like cabinet and 2 smaller cabinets, and I'm still out of room LOL
Unlike Werewolf, I only collect Final Fantasy, not Squaresoft. The only other thing I collected was Wing Commander, but I sold all of that to buy more FF things.
Anyway, sorry for the long post, I got it all out of my system now. If anyone has anything they'd like to know, just ask.

Damn, you're one sick puppy.
In all seriousness, dude, that's crazy. I'm filled with fear, awe, and respect.
So... um... is FF3 going to get ported to PS ever, or can I just give up on ever playing that one officially translated?
you both have OCD
I think MSX was some kind of Japanese PC ala Commodore 64 that had several releases of NES games that the leet hail as being better and worth the 100x normal cost.
Final Fantasy IV Easy Type is similar, but not identical to the USA Super Nintendo Final Fantasy II. Basically it's an easier version of Final Fantasy IV, with many differences, but the story stays the same. The coolest difference is the appearance of the last boss, looks better in Easy Type, in my opinion.

I don't doubt for a second that FF3 will be ported to the psx, SONY will definitely get that game in it's line-up, so that may bring the game to the USA for the first time (in fact, I would be very surprised if we don't get that game)
---
The MSX is a computer that ended up being a great game system because it would have many NES games in much better detail, it even had the real sequel to Metal Gear on it. Games like Dragon Quest and Final Fantasy looked much more colorful on the MSX. The reason the games are worth 100x more is because they are much harder to get, produced in smaller quantity and highly sought after.
Sorry about that, I should've been more clear.Originally Posted by marcelox
What I had never heard of was the new last boss, so that's what I was looking for pics of.
