I finished the race world tour. The final GP (with the 4 races, and the super cars) was such a bitch. I did it 4 times, and only got a silver.
Now, I gotta finish crash mode.
The more I play this game, the more the little things really bother me.
Online, the no rear view mirror thing is lame. There really isn't any way to know that someone is behind you easily, and the look back is not something that can be done without crashing 50% of the time.
This 2 views only thing is weak as well. I unlocked a UPS Truck, and, in 3rd person, I cannot see anything directly in front of me unless it's more than 50 feet away. It makes it near unplayable and I can't see the Firetruck and the other tall vehicles being any easier to see over.
The crash difficulty is just too easy, and the accumulation thing is lame. I could hit retry and do the same one over and over, do 1,000,000 before I get gold, then hit continue and get that 1,000,000 plus my gold score. Makes it far too easy to just rack up points. They should have gone with a system of adding only what is better than your best effort to date.
Still a must buy, just has some issues that a couple weeks could have fixed.
Yes. It's still fun, very fun, but there are many things that could easily have been fixed/improved. Things to hope for in the next installment.Originally Posted by MVS
Yeah, that's too bad. The first Burnout had a Bus and Tow Truck, and they had similar problems. The default view for them was a little farther away and a little higher, which helped a little, but not enough to make them serious vehicles. This 2 views only thing is weak as well. Reminds me of how the Kudos system changed from MSR -> PGR. In fact it seems like B3's structure was influenced by Bizarre. The crash difficulty is just too easy, and the accumulation thing is lame.....They should have gone with a system of adding only what is better than your best effort to date.
I was wondering a couple days ago if EA might have pushed the release date up to avoid competing with NFS:U2.Still a must buy, just has some issues that a couple weeks could have fixed.
One thing's for sure - B3's AI is ferocious, and the grudge system is very well-done. Again, it's sort of like PGR's kamikaze AI, but a lot more intense, obviously.

Yeah, I recommend it, despite my bitching. It's a very well-done and intense arcade racer that has some new ideas, a long single-player mode, an insane sense of speed, and lovely cathartic crashes.
I just don't think it quite deserves all the 9+ review scores it's getting around the net. I think it's got too many little nagging flaws.

I'm ranked 65th now. That's the highest ever I've been on a live game.
station82o: dunno, to be honest, should I recommend a friend; then I would tell him to pick 'Burnout 2 - directors cut' (or whatever it is called!) up in the bargain bin. Burnout 3 might be fun on xbox live, but I am not a XBL gamer!...
I am still playing the crash mode on my third day though, besides my whining...

Just get it, Station.

Ah, I'm caving, I've been fairly ambivalent on this, but with all of the praise it's getting (plus it being on sale), I'll be picking it up after work today.
