Done, 100% everything. I am of the opinion that the unlocking and rewards system really aren't worth the trouble, even for purposes of completion.
In fact, I finished Crash Mode only because I'm a damn completist. It got terribly boring halfway through.
Burning Laps are stupid.
The rubberbanding AI was worse than Burnout 2's. Many times I was cruising in first place with a nice lead, crashed once, and was instantly in sixth, by a lot. Sure, I still ended up in first, but what's the point of having a lead?
Why don't the AI cars go after each other? I rarely saw them try to take out each other. The grudge system only applies to the player.
That said, it's a very nice game, and a keeper, but it's going into the Bio Archives. Burnout 2 set the bar way too high. It's more carefully designed and has much more interesting replay value.
Wonder what Burnout 4 will be like....

Word, rubberband AI is super lame and must fu**ing end. When will developers realize that no one likes it?Originally Posted by BioMechanic
It's especially apparent in face-off races. I'll score an early takedown and use the full boost bar earned from that to rocket far, far ahead. Even after racing perfectly, I'd have the rival clipping at my tail within a half lap most of the time, and if I crashed once I'd be instantly passed...even though we had the same number of crashes (1), but I had a full bar of boost from a takedown.
The rubberband AI is especially annoying is the Eliminator races. Five laps, and the only one that actually matters is the last one because no matter how well you do for the first four, you screw up once the last and you're instantly passed.
Yeah, I stopped playing single player because of it.
Yeah, I agree, it makes it more frustrating and doesn't reward good driving at all.
I tend to stay with the pack in the elimination match, just taking them out as often as possible. No use in getting ahead. Same in Face-Off.
PS - No rubber-band AI online =D
Well, you DO get earn more boost the further back you are...
HA! HA! I AM USING THE INTERNET!!1

I once won a single-player race by about 25 seconds. An exception, not the rule obviously, but it does screw up here and there.
How can you tell? It doesn't show opponents' times at the end of the race.Originally Posted by MechDeus
Opponent hit a checkpoint right near the end (25 seconds was the last displayed time) which had been building over the course of the final lap (was 17 seconds about half a lap prior). There was about five seconds between that display and the end of the race and second place sure as hell wasn't anywhere near me.Originally Posted by MarkRyan
