I think this sounds great. I can't wait to see it.
Ok, Taken it from KFC messageboard:
"Finally, the first reviews of Kill Bill are floating in, especially at AICN. There are two reviews of right now: one review of "WOW" and the other "Mixed". Expect more reviews real soon as Tarantino is secretly showing the film across the country...
Here is the mixed review, which I feel is Bullshit and is not critiqued very well!!! because his only complaint seems to be to much action and fighting and not enough Tarantino speeches and pulp fiction-like plot. This is not pulp fiction, it is a kung fu flick. Obviously this guy is not a fan of kung fu flicks and asian cinema in general like us. "10 more fight scenes than the original matrix" sound kick ass to me!!!!
"I was at the Landmark Theaters in Boston , "the nation's largest art-house chain of theaters". Quentin was there last night and presented the movie, told us we were the first group of people to see the film.
As you probably know it is told in Chapters, and although the film lacks the sparkling Tarantino dialogue we fell in love with in Reservoir Dogs, True Romance (the words were his!) and Pulp Fiction it still has traits of his style.
I won't give too much of the plot away and besides everyone knows that Uma is out for revenge yada yada yada
What I will say is that although the film was very well received by the audience, with the writer and director there (Mr Tarantino) what else would you expect?
When the film ended, I would like to have seen part 2 straight away, but then patience has never been one of my virtues.
So, what would I say about the film. Well, it is beautifully shot,! but if you don't like kung fu movies, then it isn't going to be your cup of tea. There are many many fight scenes. Beautifully choreographed, but they went on and began to merge into each other.
Don't get me wrong, I am sure that hardcore Tarantino and Kung Fu fans will love Kill Bill, but imagine if the original Matrix film contained 10 more fight scenes and less plot and dialogue.
To my mind, it could have been more heavily edited, lost some of the fight scenes (or made them shorter - one seemed to go on for about 15 minutes) and maybe been condensed into one movie.
The other problem I had is you know Uma isn't going to get her ass kicked hard enough for it to be final in Part 1... So you never sense she is any real danger.... You know she HAS to come back for Part 2 otherwise who is gonna Kill Bill?
Miramax will have a hard sell here, and I can see a big first weekend, then sharp drop offs. I just see the headlines now, when in the 2nd week, w! hen the film falls sharply and the final take is somewhere around $50 - $60M. It will be seen as a flop which will be pretty harsh."
So in summary expect:
- Little dialogue
- Little plot (compared to say, Pulp Fiction)
- Plenty of fight scenes
- Beautiful looking film "

Another quote:
"This is the fight that's shown the most footage of in the trailer. Arms, feet, heads, hands...everything gets hacked off in this fight. This is the one that will give the MPAA a stroke. Now, I've seen some fucked up shit in my day, but this takes the cake. Arguably the most violent fight seen I've seen in a film, animated or live-action. Blood sprays, people scream in pain. No person gets stabbed or slashed and falls dead. Everyone feels what just happened to them. "
DAMN !!!![]()
I think this sounds great. I can't wait to see it.
Nice. I'll be there on opening day.

Geek in the Desert
I am so there
D
I have to agree with you Despair, he more than likely isn't a kung-fu fan. I am definitly going to be there opening day, as I have been waiting a long time for this flic.
Hmm.....well I have to say I'm a little disappointed, if what this reviewer says is correct. I like good kung-fu as much as anyone (I can't wait to see Robert Carradine), but Tarantino's past works are memorable for their dialogue and plot, not for their action sequences. If his trademark wit and style is lessened or missing in Kill Bill, my personal enthusiasm would drop a notch or two at the very least.
Lots of filmmakers can make a kick-ass kung-fu flick. Only one can make an honest Tarantino Film.
I was sold before I heard anything, now I am double sold.
I knew he was a commie, cause he didn't drink [duff] beer.
I just hope Tarantino can get back to how cool he was in 1994. Anybody realize how long it's been since he's made a movie? (I'm not including producing or whatever he did to help get Iron Monkey here).
You mean David Carridine?Originally Posted by BioMechanic
While I love Tarrantino dialogs in Pulp Fiction and Reservoir Dogs, Kill Bill is somewhat a different film. I'm sure there will be some word play in there, but I wouldnt really expect dialogs like in his previous films. But as long he delivers a kick ass kungfu film, I will be happy.
I can't wait for this movie personally!
If I remember correctly, Lucy Liu stated that the movie was so violent that many viewers may be turned off by it. With all the swordplay it just may be. Oh well, sounds like a good Hong Kong style action flick to me!
