It's karma, by the way.
EGM had a peice about the Madden curse, which I find funny and interesting at the same time.
Doesn't Atlanta Falcon's quarterback Michael Vick know gracing Madden 2004's cover is a bad idea? Didn't anybody clue him in on what happens to EA's cover athletes once their mug lands on the Madden box? It's not good take a look:
Madden NFL 2001 - Tennessee Titans' running back Eddie George.
Before Cover: One yard shy of a Super Bowl victory against the Rams.
After Cover: Upset in ADC divisional playoffs at home, by the ironclad Baltimore Ravens.
Madden NFL 2002 - Minnesota Vikings' quarterback Daunte Culpepper.
Before cover: Culpepper led the Vikings to an 11-5 regular record and a berth into the NFC championship game.
After Cover: Team finished with a 5-11 record and failed to make the playoffs.
Madden NFL 2003 - St. Louis Rams' running back Marshall Faulk
Before Cover: Super Bowl runner-up to the New England Patriots.
After the Cover: Riddled with injuries, the Rams dropped to a 7-9 record, missing the playoffs for the first time since 1998.
Now we have Michael Vick on the cover of Madden 2004 and guess what? He broke the fibula in his right leg and will be out of commision for at least 6 weeks. Hmm, there may be something to this curse thing?
It's karma, by the way.

Damn that sucks. I'm not a Falcons fan or anything, but I still enjoy watching Vick play. I hope he returns in top form.Originally Posted by gamevet
There's actually no such thing as a Falcons fan, as evidenced by the last decade - nobody really cared even when when they went to the superbowl.
But everybody loves Michael Vick because he=shinobi. Stealth dash and everything. Sucks his leg got busted.
I hope they put the entire Dallas Cowboys on the cover next year.

With football's greatest living (and perhaps greatest, period) coach? It's only a matter of time before they're a superbowl contender.Originally Posted by gamevet
Besides, they're fun to hate.

I am upset about Vick's injury but for a unique reason. My fantasy draft is tomorrow night, and I knew someone was going to waste a first round pick on the insanely overrated Vick. Now, someone I actually might take may be gone instead.
BTW, Cowboy envy is a natural thing.
