cmd32.exe

OK, so every time I start my laptop up it hangs at the logon screen. I have to ctrl alt del to bring up the desktop.

Annoying.

Also, I get a message saying that Windows can't find the cmd32.exe.

Annoying.

Anyone have any input?

P.S. None of that OMG M$ SUX! USE SOMETHING ELSSE!!1 bullshit please.

To get rid of the annoying error just as you log on, open up Regedit and go to the following: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Winlogon It will probably say: explorer.exe cwindows\system32\cmd32.exe Change it to: explorer.exe

You might have to install it from the OS disk.

What OS is that? I suppose I could give you my cmd.exe from either 2k or XP if it's been deleted (should be in the SYSTEM32 folder)... But, there is no file exactly named cmd32.exe AFAIK...

Heh, that would explain it. Seems Windows still has it in the Run key and tries to execute it, but doesn't find it... Oh well, I thought that was typo =/.
