Seriously now. I was just thinking about this earlier, and I realize how much I totally rag on the Dead or Alive series as a fighting game. Yes, it's unbalanced. Yes, it's the most dumbed down 3-D fighter of all time. Yes, it's popular based solely on pretty graphics and sex appeal. Despite all that, I can't say that I never had fun with the games. When the original DoA was released for the PSOne I remember all incredibly tense fights I had thanks to that whacky exploding ring. I don't even want to know how many hours DoA2 sucked away from me when I was around friends. The man knows how to make a fun game. Sure, deep down they may suck compared to something like Virtua Fighter 4, but they're games that are very accessible and everyone can enjoy, regardless of wether you're winning or losing.
Because then you can just mash the counter button and win
