Mmm...good times. I remember putting Doom on some highschool computers (they didn't lock the "run" command in windows 3.11), and playing some deathmatch in the library![]()
You probably don't think I'm a very nice guy...

Doom 64 had some good levels made such as "dead simple II" being one of my favs (looking for a quake 3 version). It also had one of the baddest boss battles of the series with that hellspawn shooting the homing fireballs that could kill in an instent.
Why couldn't have ID worked with midway on bringing the levels and new graphics on PC? They would have done more given the memory and resources available. Heck it would have been worth it to add the music even.

looked at some of the links. zdoom seems to add mouselook and jumping, while jdoom looks to add better graphics?
ZDoom has countless "convenience" features that enhance the experience, superb new modding / mapping-related features, good multiplayer support, and no hardware rendering. That last bit is fine for me, b/c I prefer software-rendered Doom to the blurriness of low-res, filtered textures.
I play with jumping and mouselook off.
Omega: Cool. I've always kind of ignored JDoom in favor of Doom Legacy and ZDoom. Seems it has a lot of fans, though.
Doom always rocks. Instead of having to rely on stealth, you can zip around the room and cut loose with a chaingun- obliterating every bastard hellspawn in sight within seconds.
Get a key, get ambushed, and let rip with a BFG9000. Good times as you watch the enemies all melt into a gory mess.
Vavoom is pretty good for an alternate DOOM engine. You can freelook in this one. There's jumping, but I don't bother with that.
Midway should've ported DOOM 64 to the PC- there's no reason they couldn't have. It would've been a snap.
Finished in 2021: 8 games (PC: 4, PS4: 2, PS3: 1, X1: 1)
Wait. After all these years, I never realized that Doom has a 35 fps limit!? Sheesh. Well, I'll be looking foward to this release, then.By the way, the next version of ZDoom, my favorite source port, will finally break the 35 fps barrier! I can't imagine how much better Doom will look at 200+ fps... it's going to make going back to the original version painful.
