You can always consider Landstalker and Ladystalker as the series.

It is the same with magic, climbing, etc. Even each spell had it's own experience point system, even with about half a dozen in the first game. A Flame dart would barely phaze a goblin when first purchased, but you could take out trolls with a level 100.
I may be wrong but I think I remember Morrowind having a similar experience system (and I'd guess Daggerfall too, but I never played it). And I'm sure there's others out there that use that sort of system.

Of all the old Sierra adventure games, I never played a single Quest for Glory even though they always looked interesting to me. Wish I could remember why that was the case...

  3. the first mana game on the game boy had that system where you would choose what stat to raise when you went up a level, didn't it? i think it was in seiken densetsu 3 (mana 2) as well.

Dear lord, my heart skipped a beat when I read this. I would love nothing more then to see this happen. The only shitty thing is Climax stated that they wouldn't make a sequal in a Gamers Republic interview. Bastards!

Replace the battery. I'm sure there are a ton of websites that would give you the walkthrough on how to do it. Besides, it's not like you have anything to lose, the game isn't even playable without the save feature. Trust me, it will be sooooo worth it.

  5. Hard pick between Mana and Zelda. Well I'm sticking with Mana. That game was too fun, especially with friends.

  6. not Y's love, such great stuff...i'm a big Oasis fan, so that's my pick

Plus, being an graphic adventure game, the story was really non-linear and well done, it really should have not been the only of it's kind, as I currently think it to be.
There was a VGA remake of the first Quest for Glory game. Looked pretty svelt at that.

QFG is one of my favorite pc game series' of all time.

  8. I would say that the Gauntlet series is the best action-RPG series.

Quest for Glory: SYWTBAH remake = greatest PC adventure game of all time.

I agree. Gauntlet (which I mentioned above) was out in arcades before The Legend of Zelda, but even that's not the earliest. The oldest action-RPG that I can recall would be the computer game Temple of Apshai by Automated Simulations (later known as Epyx).
