but you know, if you send this in, they'll only read this part, and then they'll think they know the content of the rest of the letter:

Certainly, chess sets forth the male (king) being superior to the female (queen), perpetuating centuries-old gender discrimination. Moreover, even in the sexist medieval past, the death of the king would not be the end of the kingdom because the queen would take over. But in chess, the queen is of an entirely different status than the king, no more able to run the kingdom than the lowliest pawn.

It's hard to see why a book like Huckleberry Finn should be banned for using racial terms (in an attempt to show that the racism was wrong!), while a game that assumes the inferiority of women is allowed in our public schools.

I think that Mark Twain was far more of an Abolitionist than people trying to ban him think he is. I guess satire is still a dead art.
