Socket for Genesis could be considered a Sonic clone, I think. Horrible game though.

Right on the money. I picked it up a few years back remembering GameFan's hyping of it. Unfortunately it was crap. Would slowdown whenever the scrolling tried to get fast. Totally a Sonic rip-off, though.

Sunsoft's Speedy Gonzales for the Game Boy is a decent Sonic clone well worth checking out. It's not a "must play" or a "classic", but it's still fairly entertaining and it does the cartoons it's based on justice.
