I went out and saw The Order last night, in hopes of it being another twisted religion movie along the lines of the great Stigmata. While it was an interesting film, it wasn't as good as I expected it to be. The problem, it seems, is that the movie should have been three hours long instead of two hours. There was too much in it that wasn't explained well enough (characters origins, why the hate between the church groups, and a lot more), and left all of us that saw it more bothered than intrigued. I guess if you know a whole lot about the history of the Catholic church it would benefit your viewing of The Order.
If the movie comes out with a three hour Directors Cut on DVD, I'd be all about watching it again.
Question for all of you - did the movie get a limited release in your area? It wasn't playing at the two major theatres by me - this was actually a benefit though, because we ended up saving money and having a more enjoyable adventure night because of this
It's currently playing at my theater (along with The Italian Job and Pirates of the Carribean... real current, huh?) but I haven't gotten a chance to watch it yet. Probably will within the next week.
