Folks over at AICN are going ape shit over this film. It stars a guy who very well could be the next in the line in the Bruce Lee, Jacky Chan, and Jet Li badass league. No wires or cg were used in the fights, just for a bit of blood and a car crash. Luc Besson has snatched the director right up, and he'll be distributing the world wide release of the film. Anyways, take a look.

I just watched a bunch of movie clips from Ong-Bak and it looks like it certainly deserves all the praise it gets.

Thanks for bringing this to the board's attention....I'm now excited as hell about seeing it.
Well, I knew about this film, for a while now, just didnt made a thread. I have Thai dvd of it but it lacks English subs. Still a very decent film, at least in the fight/action scene standpoint. Story, and acting were just average, but fights and stunts were exceptional.
There are alot of very good and REAL looking fight scenes. Lead uses Mauy-thai kickboxing, so there are alot of knee/elbow hits, most of which hit HARD, and impact can be felt by the viewer. He is like young, very agile Jackie Chan, and he also does his own stunts
Fights are very brutal, especially ones near the end, and the team has to be applaud for all the staging and risk taking. There is also a very cool tuk-tuk chase scene, that ends with biggest tuk-tuk crash ever. All done naturally.
If you interested in this film, and dont mind watching film without English subs(this film can be watched without subs easily, since the plot is not all that important, and most of the back story can be learned from english summary), I will include the link to Thai dvd:
Pal dvd can be ordered here: $12 including shipping

Wow, DMII is one of if not my favorite martial arts movie of all time and if these guys are going ape shit over the movie I can't wait to see it. I downloaded the clip and that guy has incredible control over his body.
D
I just watched a clip and I have to see this movie. Any talks of a US release? Forget hard hitting, they are literally beating the shit out of each other. That dudes legs were on fire and he fucking kicked that guy right in the head. Holy shit I have to see this. How old is the star of this movie?
Luc Besson has the worldwide release rights, so we'll likely see it sometime. I think the star is in his mid twenties, I think they mentioned his age in one of the links I put up.

Yeah they did, he's 25 years old. He's hitting them but with a certain degree of control.
