Well, I can get into the Cable Gateway's system options menu, but its different than the one on my old router. I dont know how to forward the ports or how to set the triggers.
I feel like a retarded chimp.
I've had a linksys router forever with the ports open so I can host games on bnet and stuff. Just recently we've gotten a new modem/wireless gateway thing. Now, the internet runs into the wireless cable gateway, then into my router, then into my computer, so its going through 2 boxes now, and I cant host bnet games. The original router that I have the ports opened on is a BEFSR41 and the new wireless cable gateway is a BEFCMUH4. The BEFCMUH4 is the problem, I think. How do I open ports on it so that I can host games and the like? To do it on my old router all I had to do was go to a link in my browser and change some settings. Is there a similiar way to do it with other products? About all its good for now is surfing the net and thats it.

At least you aren't dealing with a Cisco router.
Is there an "Advanced" tab with the options you're looking for, maybe?
Yeah, I finally found the place where I can forward and trigger, but the fields are different than my old one and I can't find a guide online since this router isn't as popular as my old one.
I thought the firmware for all the Linksys routers was the same? Check to see if you can download an update for your router. It might just be that your old router has newer/older firmware.
It should just have a screen for port forwarding where you can put the IP address and then the port and then a button on the bottom for triggers.
They usually are the same, but the address and options screen for the wired and wireless versions are slightly different, I believe. No problem though, I finally figured out what to do and got it working.
Ahh, what was the solution?Originally Posted by Lobo
It just had a different interface that kinda got me off track. Main problem being a different place where I put in the IP of the comp I want the info thats coming from the now open port forwared to. Once I actually found out how to get into the router options it wasn't that bad.Originally Posted by Calliander
