contra's all right
I never noticed this before, but on that Contra cover, the guy on the left looks rather... placcid. like he's A-O.K. with the whole alien-killing-risking-his-life-against-incredible-odds thing.
"Yeah, I'll kill them. And then get a brewski and watch the game. God, this bores me, every day it's the same crap..."
MajinRyu: For your sig, hows about the title, "Devil may Stride"?![]()

There's actually a rather amusing backstory regarding this artwork and the changed title screen. When Game Freak and Hudson Soft were discussing for the US version of the game, one of the staff member drew the artwork and jokingly suggested "in America, even cute characters are drawn realistically, like this". Apparently they took his advice seriously.
Ok, then take this!!!Originally posted by Dunlap

I second that. As a matter of fact, I actually prefer the NES Contra artwork over the one used in the Famicom version. Interesting to note, the artwork was used in the back of the MSX cover.Originally posted by Dunlap

OMG!! Alright, that Bomberman one is hysterically bad! I especially like how they're fat, with square ends to their fingers, and the title is still bubbly, despite the "realism" the rest of the art tries to portray. That's just... ugh...
