Unfortunately, completed Training Missions do not carry over, nor do unused Continues. And as the Captain stated, you definitely can't score the Blackbird and Papillon during the same game.
Oh man.....Normal is getting hard, especially nabbing Pros on all the Training Missions. I'm using a full-powered Blackbird - the Tengu Pro has saved my butt more than once. Seems to me your ending rank on the Training Missions is determined by how many bonus points you score during the 15 rooms. You get better bonus points by destroying all enemies, chaining the entire room, or getting a No Damage Clear. I've even gotten Pro when clearing 13/15 rooms, but that was on Easy. It's gotten to the point where I practically have to play each room perfectly to get enough bonus points for Professional. If I get Destroyer, I start over......it's still hella fun though.
I'd have to agree with kabuki that the 4th stage is one of the best, if not the best, in the game. The lack of ceilings gives it a totally different feel.
You guys think the game would have been better if Capcom had kept Vanessa's original model: no dancing & guns? I don't think so. Style, baby, style.![]()

I like how some reviews actually use screens that are so old that they still have the guns in them. Dumbasses.
Blah. I'd like to give this more of a try than I got on the demo kiosk at Gamestop, but it's not available for rent at Blockbuster. I should hit up Hollywood Video and/or see if my local Gamestop wants to donate their old copy of the demo disc to me.
Oh, and is it still possible to get the glasses without going to eBay?
Small side note - personally, I've come to the conclusion that the Blackbird isn't the best suit in the world for the Training Missions, at least for me. It looks awesome - especially the red shades - but its Energy Drives are all level 3, so it's really overkill most of the time, and you can only use each Drive a couple times before your meter empties.
I've gone back to the Ultra Guardian. Its Energy Drives seem to be a better fit strategically, and they're at level 2, so you can get more uses out of a full energy gauge. Because you can now max the suit's energy and palm shot power, you're not really making any sacrifices (beyond the cosmetic, that is, heh). Since it's getting more difficult to rank Pro, I suppose every advantage should help.
I'm still using the Blackbird for the story missions, though. There seem to be more Energy pickups, the Tengu Pro is great for bosses, and the focus is more on surviving rather than score.
The more I play, the better this game gets!

Cool, kabuki!
Papillon acquired! You hafta get all Professional rankings on all fifty training missions (as well as having the Blackbird in your inventory), which wasn't a walk in the park (for me, anyways).
One thing worth mentioning, too - once you equip the Papillon, for some reason you're stuck with it. Yep, you can't take it off, so be sure to save to a separate file. It's quite a lovely suit.
I'm so scared of Hard Mode....but I want all the endings!
Oh yeah, I think the GC pad is absolutely perfect for this game. It's so easy to slide your thumb from A to B/X/Y without losing touch with A.

Well, since I ignored the training missions on my first play through, I didn't get all the suits, so I decided to play easy again, & get all the suits. I am now starting my third run, this time on normal, with the blackbird in tow. I'm anxious to see the second ending, Bio are you sure there is a third? I hadn't heard about that.
