Thread: P.N.03 - official

  1. #221
I'm @ Boston College til August 5th, and from here i'm going to the Jersey Shore until the 7th.

  2. My condolences, all those vindictive evil bastard Red Sox fans must be a real joy to be around. Yesterday I casually mentioned to one of them "I was watching the all star game and noticed that there wasn't a Yankee at second base, think Nomar could stop throwing balls into the seats if he moved to second?" and almost got mugged. I really miss Soriano, but if I can't have him I'll take Nomar.

  3. Ok I've got 2 saves and I'm not sure what to do. To unlock the Papillion, is it a prerequisite to unlock the Blackbird? Can I just blow through normal mode and all the training levels and unlock both the blackbird and the papillion at the same time, or do I have to unlock the blackbird then play through again with the blackbird in order to get the papillion?

  4. Bought it for 15 bucks...and...

I dig it. It's like a vert shooter with rhythm. The levels and training stages all look the same, so it does wear on the brian after a while. I guess the best way to play is go for normal or hard from the get-go, and only go a few stages per sitting (that way it doesn't get too monotinous).

And the scoring makes it so that you try to get better. At least, if you're the shooter type anyway...

  5. grrrrrrr, fucking IE..... (let me re-write this)

Spo: im pretty sure you need to unlock the Blackbird one one play through, and the Papillon on the next. so succesive play throughs its is.

i got sidetracked and havent played this game in a while. i should be picking it up and aquiring the Blackbird shortly.

  6. Yes, unfortunately you can't unlock both the Blackbird and the Papillon during the same playthrough. Getting the Papillon takes time - getting Professional on all 50 Training Missions can get repetitive - but it's worth the effort.

If you want the third ending, you will then have to play through a third time with the Papillon on any difficulty level. Oh, I should mention that once you equip the Papillon, you cannot un-equip it, so keep a separate save file when going for the third ending.

  7. K, I've got the BlackBird. Oddly, when you unlock the Blackbird every other suit can also get maxed out stats so the only reason to actually use the Blackbird is for the energy drives. To unlock the Papillion, do you need professional on all 50 training levels or all the training levels PLUS all the regular missions? There's some regular missions where I've not gotten professional but since it won't let you go backwards and I forgot to save I just kept playing....

I'm shocked that this got so universally panned, it really is a fantastic little game

Just the training. Once you get Pro on all fifty, your total ending rank is usually Professional anyway, regardless of how you perform on the regular missions.

Some of the later training missions were pretty difficult for me to get Pro. If you find you're having a tough time with a particular one, try a maxed-out suit with level 1 energy drives. Once you fully upgrade the drive meter, you get something like 5-6 drive uses at level 1 instead of two or so at level 3. Level 1s are fine for destroying normal enemies, not to mention that's 5-6 stretches of invincibility. The Blackbird's level 3 drives are perfect for the regular missions' bosses, but are typically overpowered for the normal enemies.

It appears that No Damage Clears are worth more to your ranking than chaining an entire room - if you can't get both, that is. I used drives just to keep my chance of a NDC alive if I messed up chaining a particular room.

Puzzle to me as well. I suppose a lot of people didn't give Vanessa much of a chance. One of the few times recently where Dave Halverson was right and just about everyone else was wrong.

  9. I recently bought a Gamecube and this game, and have been enjoying it alot. I am glad I didn't bother with most of the gaming press' reviews because I would have missed this gem. TNL is right once again!
