Thread: Eliminate Down

Neo, I think Soft Vision made some pachinko game for some Japanese computer. I remember searching for games they made a while back but I couldn't really find anything.

And speaking of expensive MD shooters, how much does Battle Mania 2 usually go for? It's one of the best shooters on the system.

You guys playing emulated games and then rating them crack me up. It's the best shooter on the MD, hands down. Try playing the actual import on an actual Mega Drive system and then comment.
I've played enough MD games on my Genesis to know when a game is over priced. It may be worth more than Alien Soldier on ebay, but then that's also where people pay $1500 for Metal Slug on AES.

As for best shooter? No way.

I think that it was the only game from that developer.

I'm using the Xbox version these days, the picture quality is a little messed up it really is pretty accurate emulation.

Btw, how much do the PAL versions of Alien Soldier and Super Fantasy Zone go for? I'll be in the UK in a few weeks, and I'll probably pick them up.

  4. I got the PAL version of SFZ for about $20 complete. Alien Soldier shouldn't cost more than $40, as opposed to the Jap. version which is expensive as hell.

Like I said, when you actually play the game, feel free to comment.

  6. You've yet to explain how playing it emulated is such a travesty compared to playing it on a Genesis. It's the real game data running at full speed on a monitor being played with a game pad. So far I don't see the problem.

    James

  7. Softvision also made Pachinko Ku-nyan for the Mega Drive.

Eliminate Down is all right, but other games (like the Thunderforce series) have a much better gaming value/price ratio.

  8. I have played the game and I stand by what I said. Spending upwards of $80 just to see whether it's worth owning makes little sense to me. I try them out and then buy them. It's helped me get gems like Pulseman and Turbo Outrun as well as avoid stinkers like D&D and Sorcerian.

Lightening Force (emulated) is more fun (to me) than ED (emulated). Surely a real MD doesn't have the magic power to make Eliminate Down the best shooter on the system!

ED is a great game, but from what I've seen the main reason why people swear by it is 'cause it's expensive and they have to justify the purchase to themselves.

Good luck! I went to the UK 3 years ago, and in 3 weeks saw nary a trace of those games (or most of the other cool PAL games I was looking for).

Surprisingly, Aberdeen (Scotland) was where I found more good cheap stuff than anywhere else. Was probably a fluke.

Or alternatively the reason people why people dismiss ED is to make themselves better because they can't afford it and/or can't find it.

And as to emulation; its for posers/faux gamers/ whatever... If you haven't played the actual game on the actual system then you don't know what the fuck you're talking about; simple as that.
