Thread: M$ tried to buy Nintendo

  1. Hell could anyone really blame Gates for his actions? In regards to his console decisions. For the most part, Microsoft has yet to make a bad decision, in my opinion. Trying to buy a company to further benefit your own company is just good business. Microsoft made some shady business choices in the PC realm but in all honesty those decisions are genius.

Say what you will about Microsoft but they know how to conduct business. I would like to here someone say different.

I'm not exactly sure. but with a crash, things are bound to change. perhaps things will be like the old days, when practically everyone was a small developer. I don't confess to be an expert on market crashes. hell, i don't even think i was alive for the videogame crash. I just know things will change, and why wouldn't that be one of the changes?

I can only hope a crash will come.

Maybe then this mainstreamness, movies, sequels, electronic monopolies, and 3-D garbage will go away.

Nintendo knows whats its doing, its sad when the two most popular sytems are run by companies that dont even make their games.

And don't give me Grand Turismo bullshite, cause that game is not made by Sony, its made by Philophany digital or whatever its called.

Nintendo is the ONLY game console developer that makes their own games.
Polyphony is better than most any developer you can list pal. Not only are they GREAT at what they do - they are also very tried and true on more than just raceing games. More members (if I'm not mistaken) of Team Andromeda went to Polyphony after the split than anywhere else. Then there's Ico (by SCEI) which I hold (in the rather unpopular opinion) to be better than Mario. That's taste - it exists and sometimes it's diffrent from yours.

MS makes thier own games too. I suppose there has to be some kind of tenure before "real gamers" can accept them, but I suppose there's no changeing that.

Let's all pray for the crash guys! Lets hope that 35% or more retail employees lose thier jobs. Lets piss in Sega's fan just as they started to make profit. Let's make sure that in this weak economy - one of the only strong performing markets CRASHES and our hobby is cut back to only the titles that are on the biggest selling system (PS2) and that only the BIG BLOCKBUSTER titles are the ones that get released. Here's to the best future massive global resession can buy.

    Cheers... you sorry ungrateful pricks

Hoping for a crash is so ridiculous it's not even funny.

People cry for the "good old days" like the 16-bit era ,forgetting that games like Sonic weren't made a couple kids in their garage but by a whole team of people working for a large arcade company and with a budget of over a million dollars.

  5. Look, Microsoft and Sony where not originally software developers. They were only electronic hardware developers before they got into the video game business. Remember Walkmans, and Windows 3.0?

When they got in they hired a buntch of guys to be their new development teams. Those guys where not originally with Sony and MS.

While Nintendo started as a video game developer with Donkey Kong and Mario, then got into hardware developing. They are the only true video game developer who got into the hardware business along with Sega.

You cant tell me thats wrong, cause in 1990 sony had no software developing teams for Sony products.

This crash that evident will get rid of all these garbage 3-D games and may bring back 2-D gameing. I dispise most of the games on the market today. The only new games I buy are Nintendo products and I plan on selling my PS2. The only plastation games I like are Devil May Cry, Ico, Klonoa, and Stretch Panic.

I don't care about Metal Gear solid, Final Fantasy, Tomb Raider, Evercrack, and every other movie just like them.

The crash will get rid of this garbage.

It's too bad some people can't appreciate 3d games.

Jet Grind Radio, Zelda: OT, Grand Theft Auto 3, Deus Ex, Shenmue, Unreal Tournament, Panzer Dragoon, Virtua Fighter, Super Mario 64, F-Zero X, Sin & Punishment, NiGHTS, etc.

Man, the polygon era sure sucks doesn't it?

  7. 1. 250% of a companies worth is NOT chump change, or a joke. It's more than the company was worth, and was a good offer.

    2. This proves MS is about as evil as any company that bought another company. Nintendo and Sony have BOTH bought companies for exclusive content, and this is no different.

    3. Nintendo held meetings about it and actually discussed the proposed buy out. I've never seen a company be more serious than that...

Isn't Window's Software? And what about Flight Simulator that has been around since the NES days. It was the first game I got with my PC and it was running DOS at the time. No Windows (windows was around then though).

And most of us want 3D games to be around. They are fun too. We want balance that's all. We don't want one to be abandoned for the other.
Taking it one day at a time.

    Take your pick.
    But i wont want either

i want all that to be spererate

i hate this idea of everything in one

  10. Nintendo originally made playing cards in the 19th century.

Sega made slots and Jukeboxes or somesuch back in the late 50's.

MS ALWAYS made software since 1981.

Sony, can and has made whatever they want. I'm waiting for Sony to make cars and steal the Rice-Burner business. They continue to do the only constant thing they've done: Make money. And they've been doing that since 1945.

    !!NEWS FLASH!!
Sony has INDEED made thier way into the "Rice-Burnner" market... a little diffrent than I was expecting but...

    The Sony Electric Rice Cooker

I honestly didn't know about this before I started writeing this post.
