let it run for a while.. like all bt files, it takes a while before it starts to download. I know their are seeds, because I'm at 97.6% right now. so their are seeds..

I use Media Player Classic myself. From what it says on the BSplayer site, it seems like it's almost the same thing...

  3. Fucking sick, I got it to work. Thanks for the heads up on BS Player and Mech, thanks for the sub revision! I'll try to watch it today and post impressions after.

  4. Battle Royale II: War, What is it Good For?

It's quite a bit different from the first movie which is both bad and good. I like the original a lot more, but this one had it's merits too. It starts off pretty similar, there is tons of carnage, but it's much more of a war movie than the original. There was a lot more person to person interaction (deaths and character explainations) in the first while II seemed much bigger in scope and action (countless shootouts, bigger fights, more people dieing).

BRII really takes the idea to the next step. Since we've seen kids fight, the same thing for a sequel really wouldn't work. So they wisely made the change to use the same foundation (kids vs kids) but change it around so that the adults push it further to use kids to take out their problem (Wild Seven, which they started). A good twist keeps the movie interesting but nothing really stuck out to me the way the first one did. It's hard to explain but it just doesn't feel as good as the first. I really didn't get attached to any of the characters and while people get waxed left and right, nothing seemed as jaw dropping as the lighthouse in the original (for example). I thought the ending was alright, but too much of a cop out. That said, I liked it and I think any BR fan should see it.

I think it's because nothing seemed personal in this one. In the original everything was about character-to-character relations, where everyone knew each other and they all had things they liked or disliked about each other and that was all brought to light. Here was a group of friends and enemies put together in a situation where the only way to survive was to find it in themselves to either commit suicide or slaughter those they grew up with. It's much more of a psychological fuck, whereas BRII is all about huge sweeping motions regarding the ideas of many on a larger scale.

Honestly, you could probably count on one hand the amount of times people mentioned an actual something hinting that they knew each other. There was practically nothing that differentiated them from being lifelong friends as opposed to having never seen any of them before. The personal development was gone, replaced almost solely by Nanahara and Riki's rants (and Shuya's rants had nothing to do with him as a person, just him as a rebel). There was the insulin girl, the one guy mentioning a Wild Seven girl was his sister, the small bit with Kuze... and that's pretty much the entire character development of the movie. I liked Taku, but that's more just because he was so crazy that it was cool having him as a hero instead of how Shuya was in BR.

In any case, I fixed some more timing issues and another line that wasn't being shown in the subs. The part right after the first missile is fired is kinda screwy because there's two lines missing, whatever the "Who fired the missle!" guy was saying right after that line wasn't translated isn't there. So until the missing lines from either that or the Unknown portions gets added this will probably be my last update.

  6. Thanks for the update Mech. And I totally agree with your explaination. The person to person relationships were gone in this one. What did you think of the end? I really didn't like how Nanahara and Taku were going for their last stand when they clearly had about 2 guns between them from judging from the last scene, troops were still pouring onto the island and rushing that little castle they were in. Did you see how many guys were shooting at them when they were down to the last 3 people? It was insane. So they run up the stairs screaming and it fades out then we see "3 months later" and their both fine? Are you kidding me? They should be dead.

Notice that their Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid manauver (sp?) happened at the exact same moment that the missile strike was launched against the island. I guessed that most of the troops and the hideout were wiped out during the strike and the two of them sneaked off during the aftermath.

I want to hilight those spoiler boxes so bad...

  9. You and me both. Have you watched it yet? Because I have it... on my xbox.

  10. Haven't watched yet either. Got bogged down in all the torrents/subs that suddenly appeared and now I'm getting crap speed. I can tell already that it's not the first, but is it as much a let-down as I've been hearing?
