Thread: De Le Hoya loses WTF?!

  1. If Mosley hits and runs, he could beat Mayorga by decision, but that's about the extent of his chances. And yeah, his chin is pretty average. Mayorga would just absorb the punishment and just slowly cut Mosley down. How fast is Mayorga? I haven't seen much fights with him.

Thats the problem and what I stated, Mosley doesnt box anymore...

He is content to sit in the pocket and bang, which is what got him decapitated against Forrest.

Mayorga is pretty fast, but it is his power and non stop crazy barrages that win him fights.

This guy reminds me of a mini 80's Tyson.

He eats what you pop at him then absolutely destroys you with his power.

Forrest who probally punches harder then anyone outside of Mayorga below Super Middle was teeing off on Mayorga who litterally smiled, put his hands to his side and told Forrest to hit him again who did so 2-3 more times...

When this guy hit 6 heads Lewis in both fights it was 1 shot and he dropped like a brick....

1 shot closed the deal in the first Forrest fight.

The second Forrest fight, Vernon ran all night.... the nice thing is that Mayorga had just as much power and energy in the 12th as he did the 1st...

  3. I didn't see Mayorga's second fight with Forrest. Fighting Mayorga doesn't sound like fun. You are correct on that Mosley doesn't move anymore and I guess I didn't see your statement (silly me, should get me eyes checked).

Back on topic, I wonder what De La Hoya will do now?

To me thats the harder thing to figure out, he stated he would retire if he lost to Mosley again but it could have went either way and he was certain that he had won the fight afterwords.

He could try to get to Wright before Mosley does, Wright would take that fight as its a bigger pay day.

He could fight Vargas again but vargas says he wont fight anymore big names untill he has earned his way back and is ready.

He could fight Hopkins since he said he wanted to but that fight would be suicide, hell Hopkins would pick apart and K.O Mayorga.

He doesnt have allot of options, he could fight Campas the human punching bag again.

  5. I like.. when Mosely.. pointed at himeself.. all suprised.. i won.. holly shit.. no way.

  6. didn't see the fight, but saw the highlights on ESPN, and it looked like that Mosley guy was owning him for the most part. it seems like De Le Hoya was trying his hardest, but couldn't keep up.

i found it hilarious though when they showed De Le Hoya in his solo-press conference and he said something along the lines of "i will have an investigation for what happened tonight..."

pretty funny, he came off as such a whiney pussy when saying it.

  7. Hmmm - yeah I was talking to a friend who was watching the fight with me last night, and he informed me that the score cards they were showing on screen during the fight were from the HBO "judges", not the real deal. For some reason I thought those calls were coming from the appointed judges.

Still though, even without the shitty HBO commentary/info I didnt think La Hoya was doing all that bad. He was on the defensive most if not all of the fight but he landed a lot of punches - granted the triple left jab that he was using all night may have added a lot to his count.

Im nowhere near a boxing expert or anything. What do the judges base their scoring on primarily during the fights? punches landed, fatigue level> ?, shaky on feet> ? , power of punches landed, types of punches> ?

I read also that Mosely was pissed about not getting the payoff that Hoya did for the fight and made a bet with him for half a million to go to the winner? Wonder if Hoya paid up or is he going to wait until his lawsuit has run its course

Hoya didnt do bad at all, the fight honestly could have went either way..

But it was not a robbery in any sense..

Judges can score fights in different ways, some prefer the most punches.. others like myself prefer effective aggressivness.

Meaning that I would rather see someones punches do more damage to the opponent as opposed to simply slapping him more.

Mosley did get the short end of the stick for this fight but after PPV's he will get around 9 million.

Hoya will pay up, the 500 g's is chump change to him and hes an honest guy who is also a long time freind with Mosley.

I never saw him point at his self.

But I dont blame him for being surprised, he had a close fight with the largest draw in boxing in his home town who also had the home town bigger named promoter.

All odds were stacked against Mosley winning a close decicsion..

Just so those that may wonder know.

I picked Hoya to win before the fight.

However I scored the fight for Mosley, and I like both guys.

  9. Unless boxing is nothing more than a punch-counting contest, Mosley won going away. De La Hoya was on his heels half the time, and never threatened Mosley. Just look at the shape the two fighters were in at the end, and it was pretty apparent who won.

Exactly, The ammys is where the most punches count.. not the pros...

I'm training to fight amature again, how am I training?

I am training to throw punches relentlesly, when I turn pro in a year or two I will bulk up and train more for strength so that I can bully people around and pound on them.
