Thread: De Le Hoya loses WTF?!

  1. Ack, well, the tide has turned against me here, and after reading more, perhaps it was a fight that could have gone either way. Mosley dominated the latter rounds and had Oscar on his heels, but De La Hoya landed almost 2X as many punches. I guess its where you place the quantity versus quality of punches.

I'm just one of those guys who's become really jaded over boxing as a whole. I was a fan of Tyson as a kid and watched him degenerate from the most promising heavyweight since Ali to a woman-raping quasi-cannibal and a shell of his former self. That fight between Vitali Klitschko and Lennox Lewis a few months ago was also a sham and further hammered the point home, after that beating Lewis should vacate the belt on general principle.

I was also one of those unfortunate souls who watched Holyfield/Tyson II live when "Mad Mike Mad a Manwich of Evander's Earlobe". That was pretty much the beginning of the end for me
    omg TNL epics!

  2. I can understand the casual fan of the sport being frustrated but you have to look at things as a whole.

    I watch around 30+ fights a month.

If you add those up for the year thats quite a total, I might see 1-3 questionable calls or cards in a years time.

I might also see 1 strange even like a Tyson/Hollyfield 2 every 2-3 years or so.

How many bad calls do you see in a footbal season?

How many more fights am I watching then there are even football games a year.. not to mention all the ones I dont see.

Not too mention that the main stream sports press doesnt cover boxing UNLESS it is something like Tyson biting someone.

It makes the sport look allot worse then reality...

What was bad about the Lewis/ Klit fight earlier this year?

His damn eye was tore the fuck up, trust me that could have had bad repercussions for his future...

  3. Speaking of Tyson - Have you guys heard anything about him going to sign a contract to fight in K-1?

I heard about this from a friend as well. I guess Iron Mike was in the audience near the ring at a match, and one of the competitors (Sapp?), started to trash talk him and call him out to fight.Supposedely, Tyson got in the ring and was going to fight the guy before his entourage pulled him away. Is this BS or true?

  4. That's somewhat true...
