From there you can latch onto another and go over to an area that is closed off. Worth trying out if you have the demo. I think Rygar pulled it off better though.

interesting im gonna have to try that out just as soon as im done watching Terminator

listen im not saying its bad at all

im just saying i hope theres something in the final that sets it apart from Rygar and DMC

the level in this is really straight forward you cant really explore it seems

theres only one room with a door leading off the path they want you to take and you cant enter it

so trying to get that newer castlevania exploration feeling from it just isnt gonna happen

    not in the demo anyway

you start in what looks to be like its gonna be a save room in the game (by some big statue surrounded by water kinda)

I wish it wasnt timed and it let you explore more so one could get a better feel of the level

theres 2 sub weapons in it the Dagger and the Crystal
and you have 2 orbs a red one and a blue one

the Crystal with the Blue Orb makes the demo insanely easy *L* thatll destroy just about anything in no time

  2. Chojin,
Level design in the demo was very bland. It was just a bunch of similar rooms whose only purpose was to fight in. The environments were not interective at all. I'm hoping the full game is much better, but I fear there will be no breakable walls that hide hidden items as in previous CV games. As I've said numerous times though, this demo is just a very small taste of the game and to come to any conclusions now would be silly. So far though, it's not looking good IMO. That's not to say it can't get better. In fact I'm sure it does.

    Shin Johnpv,
Unless they changed the demo, you missed the cross. There should be two paths to the boss. In one path you can get the crystal, you get the cross in the other path. Though, it is starting to sound as if the demo is different. The Dengeki Ps2 demo was not timed. I screwed around for a while trying out combos and it never kicked me out. As for the room you start in, I believe that is actually the start of the area and not a save room. The game has a main hub and you can enter levels via this hub.

  3. the only other path i noticed was in the room with the statues you need to let the rocks fall on and destroy but it wont let you go into that other room

Ok i found that other path you were tlaking about completely on accident

i never noticed it before because the way the camera angle is there i just never though of running in that direction

and i tried that other thing you were talking about with the wip and jumping to a higher platform
whipping off some pole sticking out of the wall

    kinda cool

    .
This is what I was trying to get across. We knew from the VERY beginning this game was going to be a DMC clone, based on the first gameplay movie, so the fact that it plays like DMC is nothing new at all.

And to say "it could have been so much more" is a cop out, because I can say that about any game. No game is perfect, and you have to admit this is their first time SERIOUSLY trying the series out in 3d (after the rejects on the n64).

That said, I'm hugely looking forward to it, espically after hearing the DMC and Rygar comments, since I enjoyed the hell out of those as well.

  5. Roufuss,
A cop out how? Had the game stayed 2D, I would've liked it much more. Thus, there is a lot of wasted potential in my opinion. This says nothing of the quality of the current incarnation, just that I would've preferred a 2D version. Did we know it was going to be like DMC? Yes, that doesn't mean I have to stop thinking there is wasted potential here. Besides, Iga has stated that it plays just as well as a 2D game, and I do not agree. I can forsee annoyances with the camera for one thing. For instance, Shin Johnpv missed a room because of the position of the camera.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about the game. While it's not what I hoped it's also not a horrible piece of shit like the N64 Castlevania games. Oh and get this, I enjoyed Rygar too! I just would've liked to see this game take a more original route if they were going for 3D. As it stands, it just feels like every other 3D action game with a Castlevania coat of paint.

Undeadking said exactly what i was gonna say and i bolded the main point

Like i said i hope in the finally theres something that really sets it apart from other games like this

I loved the first DMC and i loved Rygar but I dont expect as much from those 2 as I do from a castlevania game

That's how I felt about it after playing the E3 demo (which is basically the same demo as the newest one, I'm assuming). That doesn't mean I'm not buying the game or that I won't enjoy it. It simply means that the game will have to get a lot more classic Castlevania in order for me not to be dissappointed on some level. I'm quite positive that it will turn out to be a very solid and enjoyable 3D action game, in any case.

  8. excately Kabuki

i dont think anyone is saying that its going to be a bad game

im sure as far as 3d Action games go its gonna be great but like Kabuki said

its gonna need to get alot more classica Castlevania in it for me to not be dissapointed

  9. So far everything I've heard and seen of this game just makes me want it more. Plays like DMC? Good. It's one of my favorite games on the PS2. Nothing negative that has been said about this game has made me not want to get it.

My only concern is the platforming. I heard that there wasn't much of it and I really want platforming elements rather than just flat level rooms but the later stages seem to have more and more of it as you go along. Other than that, I have high hopes for this game.

Oh. I am curious about the length. I haven't heard anyone mention how long it takes to complete or if there are multiple endings to make you want to replay it. Iga is renowned for having multiple endings in his Castlevania games.

  10. There are multiple endings and enough uh, interesting incentives to play through the whole thing three times. Even four, if you really wanna.

    Still an 8.0, though!
