Well, You know that I am quite linient towards movies, but Underworld was dissapointing. It did had good parts, and I think you should give it a try(theatrical or dvd) just to see it for yourself. It had few pretty cool moments.

Oh, of course I plan on seeing it this weekend, despite all the poor reviews. I just meant that I know you love these type of movies, with the gothic design and atmosphere, gun battles, and vampires- Underworld seems totally like your type of movie. So, if someone like you thinks it's dissapointing, I know there must be something wrong with it.

Maybe if they had a better director, it could have turned out better. This year 2 movies were spoiled by first time director incompetance: this and Bulletproof Monk, but thankfully Underworld is nowhere as bad as BM is

Oh no. As I said there were quite a few parts in Underworld that made it entertaining, especially if you love vampires and werewolves.

BM on the other hand was beyond help.

In Underworld they throw in all these cool gadgets like Ultraviolet Bullets, Silver Mixture Filled Bullets, Silver Studded Whips, Mechanized Throwing Stars, which are were cool when used, but they are not utilized to the full potential.

Hmm. Speaking of news, Darkhorizons report:

"Underworld 2: Screen Gems president Clint Culpepper told Variety a sequel is already in the works."

I really like the sound of all the different gadgets/weapons they use in the movie. Very creative.

Pretty cool movie. I enjoyed a lot of it but the movie had a ton of cheesy moments. The head slice was the dumbest looking shot in the entire movie. I don't know who approved that, but it was ridiculously silly looking. I hate to sound like Delta here, but the theatre I was in laughed at this. I'm not sure if they liked it or hated it (couldn't tell if they were laughing at it or entertained) but another method could've done.

I couldn't make out the werewolfs words when he was being interogated by Selene and Viktor. I disliked most action scenes for being edited poorly and directed in a sloppy fashion. (It's rated R, I would've like to have seen them use it a bit more)

Good movie. I would recommend go seeing it but it's not without its flaws.

I liked it up until a certain point. Which was basically the end.

It had solid fighting with some cool special effects.
The visual effects though, were sub-par. The whole 'head changing into wolfman' scenes were annoying and in 10 years (maybe 5) will be seen to viewers as pure cheese. A more implied strategy of filming that would have suited better.
The colour correction done was great though. The overall appearance of the movie was dark and dreary but the Vampires faces remained nice and white. A nice touch.

The one question I want to ask the director/writers.... and you guys may have not noticed this, but since when have Vampires been able to see themselves in mirrors/window reflections? Just a little gruff on my behalf.


Overall, it was a fun movie that I can say I would probably watch again. Most people say other typically bad movies were fun, yet I always disagreed due to the fact I tend to think too much in movies. Yet this one entertained me, I knew it was going to be supernatural, so some cheese was to be expected and most of it was cool.
Yet at the same time, it had flaws.
The whole head slice thing was stupid, since when does someone get their head chopped in half, then stand up and go ' Im gonna get you, no wait, I cannot as I have forgotten my head is cut in half '....Extremely lame.

So, I give it 8/10. Leaning more towards 7.5, so maybe about a 7.8 if we really want to be technical.

People laughed at the cheesy ass part too with the slicing of the head. Looked sooooo fuckin stupid.

Overall, the movie sucked. I don't think anything new was done. It was just a ripoff of other movies such as Blade, The Matrix, etc. At one point, I figured out they ripped off the main character from that Trinity chick in the Matrix.

The half vampire/half werewolf guy was a joke. He should be so fuckin powerful but he got his ass wrecked by some old dude. Then that girl just jumps across the screen and the guys head slides off. Weak shit.
