Yeah, It should have had more of those scenes. The hallway chase with Selene flipping over one of the Lucans and killing 3 of them was cool. But this movie desperately needed more scenes like that.
And I'd call it 3 seconds in 90 minutes of film, combined with 6 seconds of cat-chick on the roof.

It just seemed like amateur writers made it. Everything was over the top and the dialogue was so pushed. it had cool ideas the the universe is kind of cool.
I definitely think the 'ultra violet' bullets were stupid. Silver nitrate.. okay, I'll buy it. But in the land of vamps the Sun is seen as the good in the world. It represents what the Vampires cannot stand.
Capturing UV in a capsule and sticking it in a bullet is silly. Silver nitrate is fine, because a silver bullet kills werewolves.
Bah, I'm mixed about this movie.

Well, Since Blade 2 used the idea of UV grenades, I think that makes of Underworld decided to up the idea, and make UV charged bullets.
I thought it was a neat gadget, and its too bad they never really used it, except for once in the beginning of the film.
I could have waited to see this movie on DVD. First, I don't like werewolves in movies because the effects are so dumb looking I can't believe they used CGI on them. Now, if they were to go old school with it and actually use make it might not be that bad. This movie pits vampires versus the werewolves and sadly we hardly see any vampire type trademarks. Sure they drink blood from wine glasses (these vamps are of higher class) and some bare their teeth, but there is only on vampire bite in the entire movie. I truly expected a little more from this film. I also like the silver nitrate bullets but the idea was there with the UV bulletts. They should have gone a little farther in the planning stages tho.
More complaints about werewolf fx. Even when its done right, people are not happy![]()
I think if they would have relied on makeup instead (like American Werewolf in Paris) it could have been better. Also, I saw a Capitol One ad on tv afterwards, and a guy changed into a werewolf. My wife and I both agreed that it looked better than Underworld's efx.Originally Posted by Despair
Hmm, I got to see that add, to be able to compare it to the way transformations were done in here.
As for AWIP, they were using Digial FX in the scenes of transformations, and that also brought alot of negative comments from people. But technology had improved since then and fx here are much better done in both technical, and presentation sense.
There are just some people who have an aversion to CGI.Originally Posted by The Real Gonzo
