Thread: Snatcher

  1. Uh-oh Snatcher

ok so, i just beat the game (first time playing it), and this is easily one of my favorite games of all time.

i went into the game thinking "well, i've heard great things about it, so i'll check it out". i litereally knew nothing about the game aside from what Gillian looked like. had no idea that the game was pretty much a point and click adventure game (not to mention the first one i've ever played).

anyways, this game has such awesome style, presentation, and music that it's easily become my favorite Kojima game. infact, after playing this game, i consider myself to be a Kojima fan and not just a fan of Metal Gear games. i now understand what this dude is all about when it comes to his style of game, and the way he goes about making them (although i don't think he directed this).
because of this, i must track down Policenauts asap. what's the deal with that by the way? is there any way at all to play a translated version of the game? maybe even a FAQ or anything?

so anyways, if anyone has the soundtrack for this game, i'd really appreciate if you could hook it up with some mp3s. the ones that i'd like the most are the song that plays when on the videophone with Jamie, and during the Game Over screen.

aside from that though, i just made the thread so we can discuss this games greatness, and just see what the consensus here is.

anyways, i'll go ahead and finish this thread off with one of my favorite parts in the game...

  2. While their at it, I hope they hook us all up with mp3's.

This game should be a right of passage for any one who enjoy's the cinematic style of modern videogames, yeah its story/text/voice based linear game, but its done in the right way and puts all of those awful sega cd FMV games to shame.

I remember my first time through this and thinking to myself how cool it was to play through game where the voice acting didn't make me cringe, or wish I could skip it.

    Just good stuff all around.

I'm shocked you of all people Lucas, hadn't played this sooner.

    why is that?

but yeah, i really wish i had played this when it first came out. i would've gone more ape shit over it than i am now.

  4. I need to sit down and play it with the justifier one of these days.

I, too, never gave the game a serious play until Sega CD emulation rolled around. It's held up well, I must say.

  5. it's a shame this game never got more attention...if only someday we would get a domestic release of a Snatcher/Policenauts set...

  6. Policenauts is well worth playing even if you can't read Japanese. The only part that you may need a faq/walkthrough, is the bomb defusal, which isn't even that hard to figure out.

If you enjoyed Snatcher, then you'll really enjoy Policenauts!

  7. Just stick the game into any CD player, and you'll have acess to all the audio, at least all the talky parts.

You should go back and play through the game again Lucas, and find all the little hidden crap thats in the game. Like eating Neo Kobe Pizza and stuff.

  8. One of my favorite games of all time.

There are tons of great fan sites with really cool info about the series. Check em out if you are interested.

  9. I'm glad you enjoyed it Lucas. it's easily one of the best games out there. You can get a copy of Policenauts for Playstation for about $22 now, since it was rereleased. Well worth getting for the Lethal Weapon 2 similarities alone!

Awesome games man. I still hope for a Snatcher/Policenauts bundle with a gallery, interviews, making-of documentory, etc.

A guy can dream, can't he?

I absolutely love Snatcher. It's easily my favorite Kojima game too, at least until I play Policenauts.

It was games like Snatcher and Sonic CD that made the Sega worth it back then.

Lucas, did you get a Sega CD or are you playing through emulation? Not like it matters since the game is near perfectly emulated.
