Thread: XIII - official

  1. If it plays like the demo (which I presume it does), then what the fuck are they babbling about?

Hmm, maybe the console versions are shittier.

    *phoenix down PART 2!*

I finally got around to playing this game...it's damn good, at least on single player mode. Don't have XB Live, so I can't comment on multiplayer.

I'm surprised I really haven't heard more about this, it's really rather good. I don't understand the "it's too hard...duh" comment above, there are plenty of medkits everywhere. I'll die pretty often, but usually because I didn't use my medkit like a good boy. Also, the stages are short and sweet, just to my liking. I don't much care for the 2 hour long maps, usually I'm not sitting down playing a game for that long, and when I do pick up right in the middle of a level I'm quite lost.

Only gripe is your weapons don't always carry over from one mission to the next. Slightly annoying, but it does balance the difficulty a bit (we all remember how easy Doom got at the end since you had all weapons and full ammo)

    Overall, thumbs up from me.

For the record, I'm playing it on Xbox.

  5. I beat it a little bit before Christmas. Didn't bother with the Live play, but the single player was good... Don't know what the fuck the people who said it was too hard were playing because this game wasn't.

    ****Spoilers, maybe****

I dunno, I cant beat Mongoose or whatever that turtle lookin freaks name is. Damn bastard. I can get it to the point where all the missiles come down, but then he just guns me down with no trouble at all. It's severely irritating.

Of course, I accidentally had my memory card erased by playing an import game and being confused as to which mem card was which. So I have a chance to start over fresh and conserve some ammo for that battle. Maybe if I have a good ammount of Uzi and hand gun ammo, I'll be better off. I seem to be able to take his life down easiest with those two.
    A is for action

  7. Well I picked this game up last night at wal-mart for $34 canadian and poped it in my Xbox for a quick playthrough. I beat two stages so far and find the game highly entertaining with high production values. The look of it alone is great. I like the flashback moments and how each level is introduced. The music is also quite good.

I'll pop back in with more impressions once i've gotten more play time but so far for the price it's a keeper.

  8. I beat it last night, it was fun playing through it but honestly if it wasn't cheap I don't think it would have been worth it. I found it pretty easy and is it me or is it over way faster than I thought it would be. One moment I'm looking at the list of agents I've killed and all the blank ones I've got to get and then blam the next moment I've got them all except the first three. I also didnt' like the ending, I mean give me a break. I'm surely not going to pay full price for a sequel despite it being a good game I'd be affraid of a similar turn out. Over too fast and a cliffhanger ending. It's not like the story is comparable to the Legacy of Kain, so my interest is piqued but not that much.

Most people could probably rent it and finish it unless you want to take advantage of the multiplayer but there are so many other games that do this better that I don't see the point. Rent it play through it and bring it back.

Oh and David sucks ass as a voice actor. Whoever thought that professional actors make good voice talent are whacko. Some of them can do it but deffinitly not all, it was painful everytime he opened his mouth. I almost fell asleep.

Before you fight him make sure you go into the stock room with all the ammo and life vest, the door to it is in the kitchen. With all the shit in there you should have no problems beating him. Not to mention the med kits in the locker room and one on the table in the kitchen.

    Good luck

I still think the game is awesome, but that ending did indeed suck.

    I want a sequel!

  10. FYI, this is now a miniseries on NBC, starring Val Kilmer and Stephen Dorff.

Will it fare any better than the video game adaptation? Who knows.
