Thread: What Cell Phone Do You Carry?

  1. Oh yeah, you can have the phone auto sync everything (facebook, email etc) every so often, or turn that feature off and manually check yourself.

  2. I could use a GV invite if anyone has a spare one kicking around..

Google Nav so far has worked awsome for me... You can have satelite view on while driving, so you can see an overhead view of the landscape youre driving around. And if the area has had street view, it pops up a picture of the actual destination on your screen.

The big thing with the camera to keep in mind is its not done taking the pic when you hear the shutter sound. It lags a little, so if you move right after you take the picture you get a blurry mess. If you count to 3 after the sound before moving, it always comes out nice. Hopefully something they can fix in firmware...

I saw the Droid and so want to get it but I cant . Got the Tours under VZ's buy 1 get 1 free offer. If I give back my Tour, wifey would have to pay for hers. Droid + Tour = $300. 2 Tours = $50 each.
My wife and I did the same deal at the end of October. Totally loving the Tour. I toyed with the EnV3 or EnV Touch since they have a full HTML browser and they worked with the sites I go to (including TNL), but I like the option of Opera Mini and apps like Pandora. But $40 for "unlimited" data on Blackberry versus $15 for true unlimited on the EnV adds up.
    No gnus is good gnus.

  4. Google Nav is pretty fucking cool. Used it today and it worked perfectly until the end. Drove through a usual route and wanted to see where it would tell me to go. For the most part, it kept me on the same route I usually do. It told me to go through a side street I've never been down and it brought me where I normally exit the highway. The instructions are clear and it gives you ample time to get over to an exit.

It lost the GPS for about a quarter mile, when it found it again it knew right where I was. Only problem I had was that it wanted to bring me to my backyard through a dead end street that ends a couple yards from the property line. Pretty bizarre, but just by looking at the on screen map I could have followed the street around to get to the real destination had I not known. Dumb though, considering it pretty much ignored bringing me to my actual street.

  5. Anyone have a chance to play with the Storm 2 yet? I'm torn between that and the Droid. I'm sick of my stupid Samsung Delve, the screen is as responsive as a corpse.

  6. I've had my HTC Touch Pro for about a year now and I pretty much hate the thing at this point. I was really digging it when I first got it... there were some WinMo-exclusive applications I wanted to be able to use, and I use them, and that's fine and everything... but this phone freezes all. the damn. time. I've seen firmware updates floating around, but none that Sprint supports, and I'm not a motivated enough phone person to do whatever I need to do to apply them in hopes that it might start to almost fix things. I have just enough energy to pull out my battery, put it back in, and sigh.

I want something different, but I'm stuck with this for another twelve months (and another $1k). Oh well.

Blackberry BIS is only $30. If you get work discount and Verizon is one of them, you can get up to 20% off data.

I get 20% off data (making it $24 instead of $30) and 24% off calling plan.

There's new-ish firmware that makes it slightly less terrible. Still an awful phone, though. Mostly due to Windows Mobile being state of the art 2001.

  9. I use an iPhone. The only phone I would switch for is a Palm Pre, except I'm not going to Sprint.
