Assuming the hardware is built well, the Motorola Droid looks bad ass. Price is right too, I just hope the plan for it isn't too expensive. Google Navigator looks dope.
The screen is much, much better. one of the big problems with the original storm is they cheaped out on the contact pads for the click screen mechinism, there was only the one in the center, and the whole assembly wobbled. The new one has contacts on all four corners, and one in the center, making it much more secure, its also a capacitive touchscreen as opposed to resistive.
CPU and RAM were given a nice bump too.

The pre-production model I handled was really, really well built. As long as the bean counters don't fuck it up cost cutting the production models, it should be a tank.
Expect blackberry/iphone style data pricing... $30/mo.

I've been contemplating the Samsung Moment or HTC Hero. I'm not sure what flavor of Android is better since the Hero comes with their interface and the Moment has vanilla Andoid.
We got real, finished, ready for the consumer, HTC Imagios this week.
Hoooooooooooly fuck. LIGHT YEARS ahead of windows phones. The browser on this thing is fantastic, the touchscreen is super responsive, and the damn things fast. VCast live TV support too.
Its sad, because I think the Droid will steall all of this phones thunder, but its really, really good. Finally a Win-mo phone I can honestly say isn't a piece of crap.
Also: those of you with recent non-iphone smartphones, check out www.vuivision.com Free, live streaming NBC/CBS/FOX/ABC. Works on the Imagio and my Tour, should work on most Win-mo devices and newer blackberries, might even work from the LG Voyager, but I dont have one around to test it on.

The Droid is a big deal as Verizon hasn't stuck their dick into it. It's Googles phone on Verizons network,
Engadget review It's getting positive reviews all over the place. Seems like most of the problems it has can be fixed through software updates.
Wildkat, do you know how much and when the Imagio is coming out? HTCs Sense UI looks pretty sweet.
What do you guys think about the Google G1 phones? They are a little outdated now thanks to the upcoming Droid, but you can get them much cheaper these days. I have got to get rid of this Verizon phone, overages and data are making my $45 plan cost $120 a month recently, while my bud has a T Mobile G1 with unlimited data for $70 a month total. Unlimited data would be VERY handy at my new job with its 56k dial up connection (although I don't expect it to be much faster.)
I would wait for the Droid and see if Verizon offers an unlimited data package, but it looks like it's going to be $300 out of pocket (but you get $100 back) and that's just too much for a phone to me.
