I don't think he really wants to be backing up all his files nor reformatting. Restore will fix most problems, and takes all of 5 minutes.

  2. If it works...

  3. I love my windows 98 and its lack of problems. 8)

I really don't run into many problems with XP, but when I do, it makes me curse and wish I had a Mac.

......How?! I get errors every time I turn it on, shit most of the time I'm lucky to get through a full start up before I see the dreaded blue screen.

Lack of superfluous software mainly. My startup consists of the usual suspects (systray, scheduled task manager, etc.) with very little else. And I don't install software I don't need -- this includes but is not limited to IE toolbars from google/yahoo/wherever, gaming software like wildtangent, software with built-in ad/spyware, etc.

Also, I keep my hard drive healthy with weekly checkups from dr. defrag, professor scandisk, captain adaware scan, mister virusscan and so forth. All in all, my Win98 still runs more or less like the day I got the PC which was about 3 and a half years ago.

  7. I hate you. Please get yourself banned.

  8. I'm too awesome at the Internet for that.

  9. such incredible super luck!

i couldn't do the repair cause the disc was too scratched. so i said fuck it, called it a night, and started packing bowls.

as i was doing this, i left the computer alone, and it kept going to that boot setup menu, and since i wans't touching it, it keep booting up in normal mode, and once again, rebooting itself. but then out of nowhere, after like, 20 minutes, the system starts doing a scan check or some shit like that. you know, the kind it does when you don't shut down properly.

anyways, once it finished that up, the computer just booted up just fine. running a slight bit slower though. not by much really, but it's noticable.

    fuckin awesome.

anyways, thanks for your help shine, really appreciate it.

  10. my hard drive just died.

if anyone needs me i'll be in my bathroom slitting my wrist.
