Its all up to the guys who crunch the numbers. With a company like Bungie, I am positive they want to do anything and everything to improve the game and make it the best it can be. The crux is in the costs. If it costs too much and isn't worth it to spend LOTS of money on dedicated servers, it just isn't feasable.
Unless you want all the games to be pay to play, dedicated servers aren't something I see as being the norm until they find a way to either pick up losses on the front end of the sale, or to cut costs on the back end (server costs).
Find me a source on that. Its not true. First of all, you are incorrect about EA, they want to control everything. That is why they aren't on Live, though I predict they will be for the next year's release of sports games. Also, if you want to run and maintain your own servers for Xbox Live you can, they just have to be certified by the Live team. That is a fact.Originally Posted by Shin Johnpv

MS has to approve everything for obvious reasons. Virus reasons, questionable material, copywritten material, etc. As a big corporation they have more liability. With a closed Network Service they are trying to be careful about what does and doesn't make it to the Xbox, especially because it has a hard drive and they have security concerns.theyve stated many times its because MS has to approve every file that is sent over Xbox Live, and they dont want to go through the hassle of having MS approve every image that people upload to neversoft to put onto their Underground models
Alright, I'm about done with this topic. I'm certainly not going to see eye to eye here, and thats fine. We are all looking at it from different perspectives and we may just have to agree to disagree.
