Thread: Rush Limbaugh -- racist comment?

Vick is an even better example of this bias however. Can someone explain what the hell he has done in the NFL? He had a handful of highlight reel plays for a team with a losing record in one season of experience. Whooptie-freakin'-do!

If the media wants to prop up an average quarterback as a good example, try Jay Fiedler. He went to an Ivy League school, led his team to a winning record last year, and has similar numbers to McNabb. Oh, shit, he's white. Can't put him on commercials. That might be racist. What a fucking joke.

Anyone who wants to dispute the comparison between McNabb and Fiedler, here are their career numbers:

    Yards: McNabb 10,341; Fiedler 8,984
Completion Percentage: McNabb 56.4; Fiedler 59.5
    Touchdowns: McNabb 71; Fiedler 55
    Interceptions: McNabb 41; Fiedler 49

They are not too dissimilar. Not to mention, any QB that completes less than 57% of his passes is not great, period.
Fiedler had a awesome defense in Miami and a great running back and I didn't see Miami in two AFC championships?

Plus you don't take into account rushing yards. McNabb had almost 500 and Fielder didn't reach the century mark. McNabb also had 6 touchdowns to Fiedlers 3. A 2:1 touchdown-interception ratio is a lot better than 1:1.

Michael Vick only took the crap-ass Falcons to the playoffs and beat Green Bay at Lambeau. Big deal. And he did all this as a 2nd year NFL QB, 1st year starter. Look at them now and tell me he doesn't matter. Oh and Fiedler's career rushing yards? 757. Mike Vick had 777...last year.

As for my comments on Rush, they may have been a little out of line. Looking back at what he said, it really wasn't that racist, but then again why does the NFL have a social problem because they want to hype a quarterback? Because he's black? I dunno.

Anyways, I hate Rush Limbaugh and laugh at people who defend this gossiper as some sort of saint. He didn't belong at ESPN and I'm glad he's gone.

That would probably be the reason.
So anyone who knows a lot about football and is a huge fan has two of the three huh? Plenty of big name people out there too. I don't know if i buy that as the reason he got hired. Regardless, notice that everyone on that show is a former player, save for Boomer and Mort. Rush Limbaugh didn't fit in and didn't add anything. I'm glad he's gone.

  2. So your problem is that for political reasons you hate Rush.. therefore he must be wrong...

and for the record, rush is a complete idiot, but i don't see any problem with what he said. at all.
I do security at a mall in the. I'm smack dab in the middle of the bible belt too, so it's not only blacks that they hate, jews and fags are good fodder too. You'd be amazed at the reaction you'd get for walking too close behind them. It's like I'm back in fucking high school.

Second of all, he's not a journalist, he doesn't refer to himself as a journalist, he doesn't pass off anything he does as journalism: he's an editorialist and entertainer. He knows it and he says it.

Third of all, he doesn't dodge anyone. He confronts them all. And he always spells out his case.

Fourth of all, he's not fat anymore. He lost all that weight.

You'd know some of this if you bothered to check it out yourself instead of depending on second hand information from your shepard.
Thank fucking god somebody gets it. He's an editorialist like the ones in the paper, and as such he expresses and opinion, though different than your own, that is meant to spark debate.

One columnist that apears in my local paper, Cal Thomas for the interested parties, is someone that I rarely agree with but he presents his arguments well and rarely evokes god as an excuse, so when he does I simply turn the page. Learn to use your remotes.

9-6-1 is a losing record? You learn something new every day!

Vick singlehandedly took the Falcons to the playoffs last year. Just look how well they're doing without him. He's pure, unadulterated talent. And that was his first year starting. He's just gonna get better.

Lesse, McNabb's got 1500 more yards passing, alot more TDs and less INTs (and a much better TD to INT ratio). Yes, they're very similar. Also when you factor in rushing stats, McNabb gets another 1300 yards and 6 TDs over Fiedler. His completion percentage sucks mainly 'cause the man is throwing the ball to a mediocre receiver corps.

So almost 3000 more total yards, 22 more TDs, 8 less INTs and that's "not too dissimilar?" Every time you open your mouth about football is becomes clearer how little you actually know.

    ....
I don't know a damn thing about the NFL
I didn't realize people who knew nothing about football were such good judges of other people's football knowledge.

Rush was hired for one reason: to cause controversy (which he did) and therefore generate ratings.

The fact that we can even debate the merits of Fiedler vs. McNabb proves that McNabb is not great, because Fiedler is average-at-best, and rushing does not separate a great QB from an average one.

Rush Limbaugh didn't fit in and didn't add anything. I'm glad he's gone.
I would argue that Rush added a lot more than Deion does for CBS or Bradshaw does for Fox. It's called intellectual analysis. Hell, I am a Cowboys fan, and he added more to ESPN than Irvin could ever hope to. What the fuck was that segment on Clinton Portis' wardrobe? I thought I was watching the fucking fashion channel. Jesus H. Christ!

  6. You could put my dick on air and it would add more than Deion and Michael Irvin. That's not a valid argument.

  7. Wow. This has to be the first thing EVER that I've agreed with him on.

Well, not ever, but you know what I mean.

Remember, kids, pretending we're not all different colors and that your color doesn't have ANY impact at all on how the general public percieves you isn't a stride toward racial equality; it's just stupid.

If anything, the racism here is a second rate QB being praised so highly simply because of his color.
So I forced my hands in my pockets and felt with my thumbs and gallantly handed her my very last piece of gum.

  8. Anyone notice that in this thread not only are McNabb's merits being debated but whether or not the media have a bias is being debated?

Rush: +1, the nattering nabobs: 0

As a stroke of evil but brilliant Right Wing Conspiracy irony, today Rush is delivering the Keynote for the National Association of Broadcasters Radio Show.

Rush: +2, the nattering nabobs: 0

He's one of the most arrogant men on earth, joke or not.

    Point taken.

He never, ever takes a call that disagrees with him. In fact he himself even admitted that he only takes calls that make him look good.

He'll always be a fat ass.

I'm not sure who you think my sheppard is, but I'm not depending on any second hand information. I listen to AM radio for many hours every day. There are times, when there isn't a damn thing else on, that I turn to Rush in order to laugh at his ignorance and his love of twisting the facts.

McNabb is a top ten QB in the NFL. If you think different, quite simply, you're an idiot.

    Vick and Culpepper suck?
Neither is Joe Montana, but they are damn good players, who are still getting better. Ask the defensive coordinators who face them weekly if they're overrated.

Next I suppose you're gonna tell me that Warren Moon sucked as well.

Not in defense of Yoshi's moronic comments or anything, but that only narrows it down to 1/3rd of the QBs.
Now this is more like it --

Yahoo's KFFL ranking of QBs in order.

    http://football.fantasysports.yahoo....lpos=QB&type=S
    McNabb is the highest ranked.
