"xXx 2: In a surprising turnaround not long after Director Rob Cohen confirmed he won't be back, action hero Vin Diesel has also confirmed he's now out of the athlete-turned-spy franchise he helped create. Already though a replacement has been found. The Hollywood Reporter indicates actor Ice Cube will take on the lead role whilst "Die Another Day" helmer Lee Tamahori will direct the feature which begins shooting Summer 2004 for a release in 2005. The new casting has affected Revolutions plans for the series - instead of one recurring character, each "xXx" movie is "best served by the introduction of a new "XXX" character in each film" thus Cube's role won't be the Xander Cage character. The tone is also more dramatic thriller in tone as its set in Washington - rather than the Europe-crossing action of the first film. Diesel and Cohen will remain executive producers on the project. Diesel's reasoning was that he didn't want to reprise another character right after working on "Riddick". Instead he's set to work on "Hannibal". Thanks to 'Spy Man'"

Guess Vin realized how bad the first movie was. Though, since Vin was so closely associated with the first movie, it might turn people off if a new XXX movie comes out without him. And Ice Cube?!? Why the fuck did they choose a fat, aging rapper?

And what is this "Hannibal" that Vin's working on next?

I like Vin Diesel and XXX so it's disapointing that he won't be coming back. This is the second time he backed out of a big sequel that made him the star he is today.

Hannibal is an adventure type movie Diesel has been attached to forever. Supposedly its his next movie after the Riddick sequels. Its based on Hannibal who was a genearal during the Punic wars.

Yeah Hannibal is supposed to be an action adventure film.

Fast and The Furious had Diesel in it, 2F2F didn't and it tanked. xXx had Diesel in it.... see where it goes.

I liked xXx a lot. Even though it seemed rediculous from the Xtreme standpoint it was still a great spy/action movie. The recent Bond films have just been plain stupid. If they took xXx and adapted it to the Bond character it would have made a great 007 flick.
